Scamming?

Hi, apologies if this has been posted elsewhere! I’m new to the Community so still finding my way! I received a text message allegedly from PayPal stating that my account has been limited for safety reasons and telling me to use a link that included the following reference to limitations34.com. I logged into my paypal account and checked my messages but I don’t have any and there is no unknown spending on the account so I have assumed that this is a scam. Is this correct or is there a genuine limitation 34? Thanks

Its a spoof NEVER USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email/text to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.

Yes I had this problem happen to me and I am horrified. Had PayPal for years and never experienced this. The same thing happened to me via email and they asked me for my social, birthday and card info then took me to a youtube foreign link. I was so scared!! I immediately took screenshots, called PayPal multiple times but got no answer, I called my bank to put a lock on my card, then changed my PayPal password, and opt for a pin request that would go to my phone for me to login PayPal. I am still shooken up! I am disappointed that paypal won't answer their phones. So I came here so I can reach someone. Hopefully this happens to none of you. I'm praying my identity is safe.

Thanks for clarifying. It’s what I thought as there was no addressee and I would have expected to have received a message notification alert from PayPal rather than text but wanted to check. Needless to say I’ve not used the link and deleted the text. Thanks for your help and a belated Happy New Year!

I received the following SMS this afternoon on my mobile phone:

[PayPal] Dear

Customer, some

unsafe activities

were reported on

your account. For

your safety, please

regain access to

your account at

https://paypal-security.cc/?paypal

I did NOT click on the link above because I note in previous e-mails that I receive from PayPal, you state that if you send something to one

of your subscribers, that you address the customer by name, but as the above SMS failed to do that, am I to assume it’s a fake/ phishing..?
