Gumtree scam

Got thus reply to an item I was selling on Gumtree. Definitely a scam please be aware everyone. Thanks for your response, I want you to consider this a deal as i am willing to pay your full asking price! i actually want to buy it for a relative who is in need of it, i have checked through your advert and i'm fully satisfied with it. Unfortunately, i would not be able to come personally to collect but would send my courier agent to collect after you have fully received your money, i work offshore so i don't have time at all, but like i said i am 100% OK with the advert. However, I will pay you via PayPal once you are ready and send my courier agent after you have received your money as that is the only means of payment available to me at the moment. I would also appreciate if you could remove the advert asap. If that's Ok with you please get back to me with a suitable collection time. -- Thanks Anna <removed>

Just to let you know the same person Anna has tried this on Shpock as well. They ask you to send an email to them using a gmail email address, then they send a fake paypal email to say you need to transfer money to the courier they want to use because they have bank issues. 

Just keep an eye out on the email address used to send the paypal emails as they are from a gmail account.

I too had this scam, I was selling kitchen units on Shpock and agreed the units would be collected. They told me the following about delivery - 'OK that's fine, I've contacted the courier so I'm waiting for their response. Kindly get back to me with your PayPal email and registered name so that i can send the money right away.In order to avoid mistakes could you confirm the exact amount that i need to send into your PayPal account?' Then I received a paypal receipt stating that the money they transferred was pending and included a courier fee of £300 and the price of the units I was selling, they said they had problems with their bank account due to the Corona virus pandemic and asked me to transfer the £300 to the courier for them giving these bank account details on the paypal email- 'Name: A FRAGOSO Account number: 85394412 Sort code: 04-00-04 Details have been confirmed!' At that point I knew it was a scam! The email address was <removed> . This happened 9th July 2020. Do not use this seller, name on email stated Anna<removed>.
