Did I get scammed by a fake PayPal number?

So I got called by an Irishman and the number was as follows: <removed>

He called me about my negative balance and needed me to authorise a payment from my card to restore it. He asked me to fill in the blanks kind of (I had to confirm my email address along with my name), however, he already knew the exact negative balance along with the last couple of numbers from my debit card. I authorised the transaction and he said my balance in PayPal would return to normal in the next couple of days.

To summarise, he knew my card details and only called me to authorise a payment. He did the payment himself. Because of this I presume he knew my identity already too as he works for PayPal (I hope).

Did I get scammed?

Hi mate, It’s currently 2020 and I got exactly what you explained. I’m 14 with not much money and have no clue what to do. Can you tell me if this did end up to be a scam and what you did to resolve it?

Hi! I'm glad to help. I'm the original poster but under a different account (I still get emails from khoros). The call was likely legitimate and if they have your details beforehand then they are most probably legit. Feel free to list the phone number for me to check and remember to ask loads of questions while on the line (who are you, proof of who you are and the lot). I'll check the phone number but you can also check to see if they are actually a branch of PayPal. Just remember to never give any card details or personal information because from my experience, they should already have it. Good luck

If it was genuine odds are you would have been suspended by now because....

Paypal does not allow account holders under the age of 18.
PayPal asks for a birth date when you register so whilst you can make a PayPal account with false information the account will need to be verified to accept funds into your balance or lift any limits.
As you would be unable to verify your account it would be locked for further use.
Minors can’t enter legal contracts so you may not have any recourse to get your money back until you were 18.
Consider what your goals are in the long-term so that you don’t back yourself into a corner.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
