Hi, I am a fairly new Paypal user. I recently had some money paid into my account which I asked to be transferred to my bank. Firstly, I think it is completely unfair and dishonest of them to quote that it takes up to 2 hours and only when you have initiated it and it's too late to reverse, they then tell you 2-3 days. They should at least warn you of this before you click to proceed! Anyway, I obviously then received an email stating it would take 2-3 days. I desperately needed this money, it was literally all I had. If they had warned me this could happen, I would have made other arrangements.
As I was extremely annoyed, I messaged customer services to complain. Not only did they not even acknowledge that I was trying to make a complaint, but they just gave me the same old info I had already found in the help section. I replied to their message and finally got a response that didn't seem like a generic automated one. I could tell because their grammar was terrible! I was assured that this advisor would "personally monitor the transaction to ensure that it reached my bank on or before the 7th April". That was the 72 hour deadline, so I hadn't really gained anything but I took it on the chin and waited.
So today has arrived and the money isn't in my bank. It's been over 72 hours. I have messaged them again and now been told that it will be in by the 9th April. It is honestly giving me so much stress. I have 2 small children to feed here. The annoying thing is, my Mum has never had this happen to her and she uses Paypal regularly. This was my very first transaction! So my question is/are: Does this happen often? Does anyone have any idea how much longer I will realistically have to wait? I am now thinking that the 9th will arrive and they will extend it again!

@Bex99 wrote:If that was the case it would surely be happening to everyone. My Mum, who lives down the road has made 6 withdrawals over the last 2 days and everyone was instantly in her bank account. Also, I notice that no one from Paypal wants to address my issue with the promises I have been made that then have not been honoured. If one of your advisors promises to monitor a transaction to make sure that it goes through, this should then happen. Was this just a stalling tactic? Are you now doing it again by making me wait until the 9th? What if the 9th arrives and you are still having problems?
It is ludicrous that it should take so long for a multi billion dollar company to do transfers when joe public can do it between themselves in 2 mins per transaction! There is no justifcation for placing my family in financial hardship. Not to mention the charges I will receive bcause my Direct Debit bounced yesterday!
Hi @Bex99
Each transaction on PayPal is screened before approval, which can sometimes require further review. This process should not take more than 72 hours in most cases.
Some withdrawals can be held for review, whilst others can be released instantly. In the case of the person mentioned in your post, their withdrawal would not have been held, hence its expedited release to their bank account.
This week there have been reports of slower withdrawals, however there is no official statement to confirm it. I believe the issue is not widespread and most customers can receive their funds within the normal estimated 2 - 72 hour time frame.

Hi @Bex99,
There has been a slower than usual withdrawal service this week. As per the email, the expected completion date is Monday 9th April 2018. If a member of the PayPal team has already investigated the transaction, any particular delay on it would have been identified.
Please wait until the above date has passed before contacting PayPal again. I hope this has clarified your concern.

One of the replies to this post said that if this was really a problem then it would happen to others, implying that the person that posted this problem was at fault. So then, how do you explain why I have been waiting for a transfer to show up in my bank for 5 damn days?!?! Nothing is wrong with my bank account. PayPal shows they transferred but it won’t be there for 5 days!!! I sent it I. The middle of the week, not on a holiday, it should have been there in 24 hours. The lady that had the original problem had good reason to be upset. Don’t patronize people. If you don’t know the situation, keep your comments to yourself.
