Why is PayPal Extras Mastercard not allowed as funding source?

I have used PayPal in the past with much success. Not long ago, I switched the funding source for my PayPal account to the PayPal Extras MC. Since then I have encountered a situation whereas the credit card is not a valid funding source, and PayPal wants me to link another credit card to my account.
I am told this is a vender issue, Tigerdirect, So why would it mater what the funding source is as long as it is valid?
It seems Tigerdirect will except credit card payment with the PayPal Extras MC directly, but will not except a PayPal payment if the funding source is the Extras MC.
I applied for the PayPal Extras MC for the sole purpose of a PayPal funding source. I find it very odd that a vender can dictate a members funding source.
PayPal_Olivia, do you have a answer?

While I'm not Olivia, lemme take a crack at your question. I can absolutely see where not being able to use the PayPal Extras MasterCard would be frustrating.
While we can't discuss the specifics of the merchant's account, I can tell you that merchants do have the ability to filter out specific funding sources, locations, account statuses, etc. So that particular merchant apparently has chosen not to accept the Extras MasterCard through a billing agreement, but if you use it as a normal credit card on their site it would go through. The same thing could happen with our other products (Smart Connect, Bill Me Later, and so on).
And from your side of it, I can see where it would be odd with a merchant 'dictating' how you pay them. But it's the same concept as going into a brick and mortar store and they don't accept checks, or they don't accept a specific credit card. Some choices get left to the merchant.
Hope that answers your concern.

Here is a quote from PayPal "Shop with confidence, knowing your financial information
is secure no matter how you choose to pay".
Forget about the part "no matter how you choose to pay", but instead think about the "knowing your financial information is secure"
If my financial information is secure, how is a vender aware of what the funding source of my account is?
When I signed up for PayPal, the sell was I provided a funding source, and PayPal handled the rest, WHEREVER PayPal was excepted.

You are exactly correct. Your financial information is kept secure, in as much as we do not provide your credit card number, bank account number, or any other private piece of information to your merchants. In this instance where you're trying to make a payment, we're not providing them with the fact that you are trying to use the Extras Mastercard.
That merchant, for whatever reason, has made a blanket policy to not accept use of the Extras Mastercard through a PayPal billing agreement. But in no way would this mean that they are aware of what funding choice you're trying to use; they may not even know you're trying to make a payment in the first place.
Hope that clears up that misconception.

Somebody is not telling the truth!!!
Hear is another quote from PayPal;
"Pay however you want. You can link your bank account, debit, and credit cards to your PayPal account. That way, you can choose how to pay, and you never have to worry about keeping money in your PayPal account"
And even mor can be found at https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/what-is-paypal
I have chosen to use ONLY one funding source, which is PayPal's own sponsored credit card, and I cannot use it as promised by PayPal. Maybe that could be construed as a breach of contract.

I think that I have asked a reasonable question about PayPals misrepresentation of their product. Yet no one at PayPal is willing to step up and fix it.
PayPal says we can choose our own funding source, and that our financial info is secure. Yet I have discovered that a vendor can refuse a funding source if they choose too, AND THAT clearly indicates that our financial info is not as secure as is claimed.
Biased on the PayPal claims, a vendor should have ABSOLUTLY no knowledge of what a PayPal customers funding source is. And what's even worse is, the funding source that is being refused is PayPals own sponsored credit card!!!
