So I'm thinking about trying Bill Me Later for some future purchases, but feel that I need some second opinions before making the decision. I've seen some posts about cases where customer service is incompetent to resolve problems, account linking problems, checkout problems, not recieving the promotions, etc. Where does BML stand today?? Has the feature improved lately?? Or is it still having problems??
Also, are there extra fees that you pay when making the monthly payments on what you buy? Or any other hidden things??
And since it's my first time using a credit line type of system, what are the basic things to understand about them?? Like APR and interest rates and what not.
Thanks!

I would like to post my recent experience so it doesn't happen to anyone else.
I was in Paypal, saw the add for Bill Me Later stating no payments or interest for 6 months on sale over $99. I went over to Tigerdirect and ordered a $300 item and paid using Bill Me Later. A month later, I got an interest charge on the balance!
Needless to say, I was upset so I called. They said they would "look into it" and respond in 24-48 hours. I got an email a day later saying they were finished their research and to check my account. I look and there is still an interest charge, and another one as well (new month now). I called them and they said tigerdirect had no such promotion for "no payments or interest for 6 months on sale over $99".
I hung up. A bit confused, I called back and spoke to a different person. I asked if the "no payments or interest for 6 months on sale over $99" was specific to a certain store or not, they say no. I then ask why I am getting interest payments from my tigerdirect purchase? The answer: Because I used the "Bill Me Later" option to pay.....
Now, that made no sense to me so I asked for an explaination. The rep told me that "in order to get the special financing option, you have to choose PayPal as a payment option, then choose Bill me Later as a funding choice".
If you ask me, this is a pretty deceiving way to do business. How is someone supposed to know that there are really 2 different ways to pay with Bill Me Later, and that you have to use the PayPay option in order to get the deal?
Well, now you know - Dont make the same mistake I did!
As for Bill Me Later, They will not remove the finance charge, so I will no longer be using them - they fooled me once and that is one too many times.

THEY **bleep**!
DO NOT USE BILL ME LATER! The people who work there are rude and don't care about you at all. They give out fees like candy on everything! They claim they don't have late fees for a certain time, but they charge you anyway. About $40 dollars a month just on a $30 purchase. I made 2 purchases in February which totalled about $50. I got a call in the begining of April with a $150 balance. I tell everyone I know NOT TO USE IT. It's a scam and they just want your money!! I tried to cancel my account on the phone and they told me they did, but they didn't.

I have to disagree with some of these reviews. This is my 4th transaction with bill me later and I haven't experienced any difficulties with both completing purchases and paying my balance. The only problem I had was when I made a purchase on eBay I made a mistake with the city I lived it which was different from what I signed up with my Bill me later account. This result in another account being created for me with the new city and the balance was never posted on my original account. I called up customer service and was able to solve in less than 5 Minutes. This may be the reason why some of you can't pay bills am not sure if this is the case. Just make when you are making new purchases that u enter your information correctly as it is when u signed up for your bill me later account. A difference in phone number or zip code and throw u off. Hope this helps

I NEVER used bill me later but found out I had a balance.
I called today and the customer care rep was HORRIBLY snotty and RUDE!
The WORST customer care I have ever, EVER!!!!!
I own 3 Corporations; I do a lot of transactions via my 3 merchant accounts (bank accts).
Somehow when I used pay pal it was directed to bill me later.
I tried to pay my account and had to call back as it would not allow me to pay with my credit card online. I had to give the rude customer care person I talked to earlier my credit info over the phone which made me very leery, but she could not offer another solution.
I rate this service and customer care -100! No apologies, just frankly I don’t give a damn attitude…sad!

I opened bill me later way back last year.. 1st it was a great experience using their no payment no interest promotion. late last year i purchased a lens and used their promotional "no interest for 12 months" the transaction went will. then when i was about to pay my monthly payment i saw the statement that the full price for the lens is due.. meaning i have to pay the whole thing (1st month of the 12 months) i called customer service and of course they said they fixed it.. check my balance again and i was surprised to see my balance double (x2 the price of the lens) called again and took them a week to fix the problem.. then was about to purchase am item form ebay again.... without letting me know my account was deactivated.. meaning i cant use bill me later.... called customer srvice again and they cant answer me why my account was deactivated then they offered me to reactivate my account.. i told them get me the reason 1st why my account was deactivated.. i was always on time or ahead of time of my payments... they couldnt answer my why... so i didnt let me reactivate my account.... after a year i called customer service again asking them i havent recieve any explaination why my account was deactivated still no asnwer.. so i ask if my account can be activated again.. the guy told me yes. reconfirmed my info then the last past he wanted me to agree on a terms and conditions.. i asked him to send it terms and conditions o my email then i agree to the terms and conditions after i read it. the guy said "No i cant send it to your email. But i can send it to you after you agree to it" i said to myself WHAT!? how can i agree to the terms and condition with me reading and knowing it? so i told the guy, if thats the case i dont want to reactivate my account.... My experience is from GOOD to WORST! now i am happy with amazon store card since all their promotion are being reported to the credit bureau why bill me later is not ( i dont know now).. i will never ever reactivate my account.. ill just pay off my last remaining balance from that 12 months promotion that started this problem...

I'm sorry if this reply is a bit too late...
DO NOT under any circumstances use Bill Me Later. They offer absolutely no protection for you whatsoever unlike a traditional credit card. If there is something wrong with your trasnaction, you are completely on your own trying to recover your money. Filing disputes with them is completely useless, since they will just forward your complaint to the merchant and forward you their response.
Anything is better than this service, literally anything.

I decided to try BML to for an additional payment option. I applied and was given a credit line of well over $1000. I linked the BML account to my PayPal account. On my PayPal page a BML section appears right below my PayPal balance informing me of my credit line and balance due, which is $0.00.
I tried using BML at Tigerdirect for a laptop that cost well under my "credit line" amount but I received an "unauthorized" error message and couldn't make the purchase. I tried several times, aligned my billing/shipping addresses, phone numbers, account information - still no dice. I am not going to try and call anyone, it's just not working for me.

PayPal_Nicole:
The vast majority of comments on Bill Me Later are extremely negative. Doesn't that worry you? No matter what your "assurances" are, it seems as if the majority of users are very dissatisfied with the service. It's going to take more than a standard "I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience" to convince people this is a service worth using. I was considering it myself, but after seeing these comments on a Paypal forum, I think I'll stay away from it. It's not just these forums, either. I have seen many negative reviews elsewhere. If Paypal is serious about "being sorry" for negative services, it seems like they should address this issue.
