Buyers, you are NOT protected !

Purchased a vintage camera off of Craigslist from a female in San Mateo, who lied directly about its mechanical condition. Filed a dispute to recieve a small partial refund,  or to return the camera, didn't matter which. Paypal accepted the seller's version, which was filled with lies and mistruths, and never bothered to ask or accept evidence from me. They simply denied the claim, refusing both the partial refund or the option of returning the camera. I attemped to appeal the decision and went through 3 customer service agents in the dispute department trying to get to a supervisor and was manipulated by Jean and Dillon every step of the way. Finally I connected with Eric, who turned out to be the one of the most beligerent, unyielding fellows I've ever dealt with. He wasn't interested in the facts and seemed to have his mind made up no matter how logical and fair my statements were.

Bottom line, if you file a dispute - and unless the other party agrees to make things right -  you'll receive no real help and are in for the run-around of your life if you fight the decision with Paypal.

Paypal needs to come up with truly fair and creative solutions for dealing with fraudelent sellers. The current SVP of Global Operations has put together a team of dispute personnel who are incapable of doing this.

I've seen sellers not protected too so it's even.  PayPal has to balance the winning cases between buyers and sellers.

It's each party's word against the other and each party has to be convincing enough to tip the scales one way or the other.

If you paid by credit card, file a dispute with your card issuer.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
