How to turn off 2FA code for my phone but keep it on for all the other devices?

Hey all. I have 2-step verification on via Google Authenticator app. Please can someone explain to me how I choose a primary device (e.g. my phone), so that I don't have to enter 2FA code every time I open PayPal app?

Same problem here on Android. It sucks having to use OTP even though I just unlocked the app via fingerprint. Turning off 2FA seems to be the only option.

I too am looking how to do this, are there any updates or official answers that actually accurately address the issues raised?

No. The official answers we've got so far are:
- that's intended
- you can remove 2FA altogether

They're either clueless or completely incapable of improving the UX.

Thanks for the reply.

How very odd.

Unbelievable stupid support. That’s the price when companies outsourcing their support to WTF countries where they need a translator to understand the customer. 🙈 And for the notes - same problem here. It came with an update because I’m 100% sure that I didn’t need to do this back in the time.

Just to add one contributor to this topic.

UX is just ridiculous...

Please add this "trust this browser/app" option ASAP.

+1 - hate the experience. Face ID should be enough to have the device be trusted and I shouldn't need to open my authenticator every time. Note for support: Yes I want to keep 2FA, but we shouldn't need to use the authenticator when logging in on our phone as FaceID should be sufficient.

+1 on this.

It's just sad that support is not getting this.

+1 I would like to use 2FA if it's an unknown device. If I use a passkey on my phone or mac, I should not be prompted with a 2FA request.

Workaround that worked for me:

1. Disable Face ID in PayPal settings (important, otherwise PayPal handles your login and not the password manager with the passkey)

2. Create passkey in PayPal settings

3. Sign in using the passkey

4. Confirm via SMS 2FA (I dont know why SMS. It just asked me for SMS verification even though I use Google Authenticator)

5. Close the app

All following login requests should skip 2FA due to the passkey.
