Need help with change of address not working

Have changed by address. Account details shows address as it would be however just bought an item and used Paypal and when transaction was complete it said it was sending to old postal address. This no longer appears in account details. Tries the message help service but unsurprisingly no reply forthcoming. All I can think of it to close my account and then open a new one. Anyone have better suggestions

The helpful link provided by @kernowlass will aid in removing a mailing address that is on your account. For an address that does not show up in your account but does show up in merchants' checkouts, you would need the assistance of a Customer Service representative. This is because the address was added as a gift address or other mailing address directly in a merchant's checkout, and it's retained as a gift address going forward. To see your contact options for Customer Service, click Contact at the bottom of the PayPal website.
I know this will be able to be resolved quickly for you once you reach out and request assistance with a gift address.

Thanks for that. My first port of call was customer services but once past automation I was put on a waiting list tined at 3 to 4 hours for reply but all, that happened was the waiting list timed out and it appeared I have to start again. Came to their conclusion that customer service neither like customers nor providing a service which is why I moved to this forum. I will try again when I find time.
