I have two questions:
1) I cancelled my mobile account. I'm now using Google Voice in Canada which can't receive text sms-messages. How do I remove my cell phone number as primary from my account? This is important for the security of my account since I no longer have the mobile number.
Note: PayPal insists on adding another mobile number with sms verification, and not allow me to simply delete my (non existing) mobile number from my account.
2) Can paypal support 2FA using Authenticator app and via email instead of insecure and costly sms mobile verification?
p.s. Mobile service in Canada is very expensive and I have no use for it since I use Google voice on my mobile with unlimited data-only plan. Keeping my mobile service just for sms authentication (which is not secure) seems wasteful. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Log out of all accounts.
Go to https://www.paypal.com/ca/smarthelp/contact-us
Click “Call Us” option under the “Common Issues’ section.
Click “call us as guest” link to get PayPal contact numbers.
Ask for an agent until they connect you with one.
Or reach out to PayPal at Facebook or Twitter:
