Cannot log into my PayPal account, since I do not use anymore my old phone number

I have a problem to log into my PayPal account, since I do not use anymore my old phone number. After the log in, the system asks me directly to authenticate either via message or phone call, however, I do not use the phone number anymore that is linked to the account.
When I tried to get a solution via Help Desk through phone call, they asked me about the last 4 digits of my bank account, which is, however, again my old bank account that I do not use anymore for many years and I do not remember it.
Now it looks like I am in dead end and cannot use the PayPal with my email address. I would like either to update my phone number/bank account on the existing account, or delete it and set it up again as new one with my email address.

Thank you for contacting community.
I see you're facing issues to access your account and have also contacted PayPal over the phone. It is necessary to validate the details you have mentioned in the account in order to access the account. If you wish to close the account you can do that by contacting us via Facebook or Twitter. You would be asked to send out an email requesting account closure. I hope this helps.
