Wrong account type

I made a paypal account recently, and registered the account as a charity buisness, as its sole reason was for fundraising, but not for an official charity. Paypal keeps sending me messages to verify my account for:
Prove I'm tax exempt
Confirm my bank account
Organisation and payment information

I only have 1p in my account, which i don't care about. I want to close the account because its not needed any more, and because its registered wrongly, but I can't because I have to verify my account, that is impossible to verify because its not an official charity with legal documents ect.

This is really hard to solve, please help me. I feel bad because it isn't resolved and I'm not sure if its legal to do this. Also PayPal keep sending me emails to resolve the unresolveable. I just want it all to stop!

Please help me, I'm very new to paypal and I'm very stuck. 😞

Hi there ImStuck,

If you indicated that your PayPal account is for a charity or a not-for-profit organisation in error and you don't represent a not-for-profit organisation or a charity, you can correct the information on your account.

Here's how to change your business status:

1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click 'Profile' near the top of the page.
3. Click 'Update' in the Business Information section.
4. Change the entry for 'Business type' from 'Non-profit' to a different choice. If you don't have a business, choose 'Individual'.
5. Click 'Save.'

After you update your information, please email or call us so that we can review your account.

No 😞 it hasn worked, Paypal still want to know why im tax exempt and they want to link my bank account ect ect. I dont want to do these things, paypal allow me to do everything except the one thing i want to do, close my account! Please help, all I want to do is close my account, but every email i send them gets an automated response telling me how to change my password! I also am wondering, why wont paypal let me close my account anyways? I'm never going to use it again :L

Hey there, if you are in fact receiving donations for a fundraiser, we are always more than glad to support you. In fact there are reduced rates for charity donations. However, we will need official confirmation of the charity/group you are working with. This is because we are an on-line group and require this kind of information if we are to process funds on your behalf.

If it is not possible to provide that information. Then I would suggest that you contact PayPal directly and inform them that you no longer wish to use PayPal for donations but just for personal/private use.
