Problems with verification of credit card

My account went into negative. In order to restore the balance I click on resolve balance and it offers me to add funds through the credit card that is already registered through PayPal. When I try to confirm this PayPal renders error saying the following: "This transaction failed because we were unable to verify this credit card through our card validation process. In order to proceed with your transaction, please select a different funding method or add a different credit card".

I don't have another card and I don't know what to do. Thought perhaps the PayPal community can help me.

Welcome to the Community Forum! So sorry to har about the issues you're having with using your card.

When you receive this error message, it's usually due to a decline from your card issuer in relation to the usage of your card on PayPal. This can normally be resolved easily by contacting your card's issuing bank, and asking to speak with someone who deals with online payments. Please ask them to ensure that the card is enabled for use with PayPal.

The normal customer service at your bank may not have access to view the specific details of this denial, which is why we advise speaking with the online payments department.

Once you have done this, please try confirming the card again. If you continue to have issues, please feel free to contact Customer Support for further assistance. You can find our contact details by clicking on 'Contact Us' at the bottom of any page when logged in.

Hi there,

Please be advised that it is not possible to add funds to your PayPal acocunt using a card. You can however, link and confirm a bank account if you want to add funds if you have a UK registered PayPal account. To pay the balance over the phone with your card please call 0208 6100 150.

Hi there,

I also encountered this issue when adding a card to my paypal account. After contacting the card issuer they confirmed me that paypal is using unsecure transactions for this verification charge. Meaning they do not send the CVV2 code with the transaction.

The reason my bank refused the transaction was that, by default, their policy is to limit the unsecure transactions amount per day to 0. So all I had to do was to temporarily raise that limit in order to cover the 1.5 euros amount.

If you contact your card issuer make sure you ask about unsecure transactions amount limit.

Some banks provide a way to disable the checking for CVV/CVC (the extra 3 digits on the card back) - this may help to verify the card with PayPal.

I get the message: 

The Card Verification System used by PayPal is currently unavailable. Please try to add your card at a later time. We apologize for this inconvenience.

I was charged 1 EUR, on 16.11.2014 11:22 with the message: B12148.

This amount never reached my wallet and my card didn't verify.

On the Notifications sidebar, I get a link: "Link and confirm my debit or credit card".

I tried it a lot of time but it returns the above error. Perhaps it tries to charge me again.

I have same problem, paypal said it's not up to them, my bank said my card is just fine, so it's not up to my bank ether. So.........

I tried to validate my debit card and got an error yesterday, i tried it again and there also i got an error... but after some time i got a mesage from my bank whose debit care i used , saying that 1.95 dollars has be taken from my account. After 1 hr again i got the same message that this amount was taken from my account.

paypal already took like 7 USD from my account and i still cant shop.
