We ship many packages a day, and some folks forget to put an apartment number or some other detail of their address when ordering. We validate each address, and find some are just not valid. If we had the phone number of the customer we could call, and get it corrected quickly, as an e-mail may go for days. How we we request customers phone number when they send funds?

There's an option in your PayPal Account Profile for requiring a Contact Telephone Number.
Login to your Account.
Click on the "Profile" link.
Under "Selling Preferences".
Click on "Website Payment Preferences".
Scroll down to "Contact Telephone Number".
Another option is to include a required text input filed with your item button code. By using a little scripting and the "option" variables, the collected info will appear in the Option Column of the PayPal Screens, the email notification and your Account Transaction History. You can find some examples here for using "required fields".
Regards,
skier
