I got a notification in my completed list about a "payment" for something I sold on ebay. However the item only says "payment" and not the usual "payment received" and the amount is not in my balance to withdraw. Usually I wont send anything until I have withdrawn the money to my bank account so I am not sure what to do now. Can anyone help?

It sounds like this payment has been placed on temporary hold, this is common practise within eBay and PayPal and more information on this can be found here - https://goo.gl/3g2jCk.
Don't worry you can still post the item to the buyer as the funds are on hold on your PayPal account and not the buyer's.
