Holding unauthorised payment buyer on eBay digital game

On Friday I sold a digital code for a game on eBay. The buyer paid within a few minutes so i swiftly sent a picture of the code to them via eBay messages.

an hour or so later I get an email from PayPal saying the transaction was unauthorised and the money is being held. I submit my account in the resolution centre and upload a screen shot of the message to the buyer of the code.

obviously being a digital code I can not re-sell as I have no way of telling if the buyer actually used it.

Today I get another email from PayPal saying the case was closed but another one opened by the buyer as an unauthorised payment.

Once again I uploaded a screen shot and gave my account.

i can see there is "seller protection" on PayPal however it states intangible or digital good are not covered. So will I lose my money?

This ebayer has quite high feedback but I can't help but feel they know what thy are doing and I'm going to be left out of pocket. If I do lose by money can I contest it somewhere?

Thanks

In the case of an unauthorised purchase it means that the account holders paypal account has been hacked and used without their consent.

If paypal agrees that this has happened then of course the account holder deserves a refund BUT you would be reimbursed if you met all the requirements of seller protection.

Unfortunately paypal does not cover virtual / digital content, you can sell it but at your own risk  Smiley Sad

Personally I would never use paypal for those kinds of transactions as they are way too high risk for scams.
