Buyers payment on hold

I sold an item on Ebay just over an hour ago.  The buyer immediately paid via Paypal.

A few minutes later I received an email from Paypal saying 'A review of recent transactions indicates that you might have received a payment that the PayPal account holder did not authorise'  They were awaiting a response from me.

I went to the resolution centre and the only responses offered to me were

1. to make refund (how can I refund money on hold)

2 to provide proof of postage (I only sold item 1 hour ago and it's sunday!)

These responses are non-sensical.  Anybody got any ideas what is going on here?  I have emailed Paypal but judging by other peoples experiences  I may not get a reply any time soon.

Many thanks

Hey there bawill,

Is there any other information in the email you received?

Usually if there is an issue with the payment we would ask you not to ship the item.

Then you just pick whatever option suits best. There should be an option of “none of these apply” or something similar.

If you have not shipped the item you would best not too with getting an email that the payment may have been unauthorised.

You will be updated through the case once you respond.

Hi, Lucy

Can you help me? I choose second choose prove the tracking number on papal as my buyer is unauthorised user.

This is what I had done,

1)prove the tracking number on PayPal and ebay.

2)Buyer send positive feedback on eBay.

3)contach buyer, and buyer reply he already verify himself to papal and papal confirm with him already.

What else I can do to get my money quickly? It already been held 10days.

I've just had one of these too but it is nothing to do with the buyer as she's purchased something else from me since and we've been in constant contact. mine was opened on 1st june and i replied the next day but my funds still haven't been released. I make bespoke jewellery and hair accessories, and i can't even start this poor customers order while the payment is being held. Why is it taking so long and why is it being reviewed in the first place?

Hi guys,

When a payment is placed under investigation by PayPal, we would request information from the seller in regards to the item. We would also request information about the postage also. If you have all provided this information to us, there would be nothing more that you would need to do.

These investigations can go on for up to 10 days or so. This can also be slightly delayed if there are a high volume of cases waiting to be reviewed at that time.

I apologise that it has taken so long for you to receive an update on this. You should have received more information on your cases by now.

I hope this information helps,

David.
