Transaction Finder doesn't work

I want to get a list of all purchases of one of the items I sell. Since neither the item name or item code appears in the downloadable CSV files from 'History', I have been trying to use Transaction Finder. But whatever I put into Transaction Finder, it comes up with 'no data available'.

I have sent three emails to Paypal customer support about this during the last month and received no reply at all. I then called them, and they said that there was a temporary problem with Transaction Finder. Two weeks later, and it still doesn't work.

Has anyone ever managed to get Transaction Finder to work? Does anyone know when I will be able to use it?

Or is there maybe some other way I can get this data (basically, all items with the same item code sold over the last year).

Since I put £100s of transactions through Paypal every week, I expect the tools they provide to work, or at least for them to answer emails.

Also, there is no appropriate place to put this message on the message boards, so I just put it somewhere I thought it would get noticed...

thanks

Hi there Urbanomic,

There was a technical issue with this previously but I have checked and it should be resolved. If you are still having issues trying to download your history, you should try clearing your temporary internet files and then restarting your computer. This may help you with downloading your history.

If you are still facing difficulties after doing the above, can I ask what type of web browser you are using when logging in to your PayPal account? If you are using Google Chrome or Opera, this could be causing difficulties as there was issues previously with the intigration of the PayPal website and these browsers. You should try using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox if you are not already doing so.

I hope this helps,

David.

Hi, sorry I only just saw your reply.

I have been trying again just now and I am getting the same thing 'no data'. I am selecting the last three month's period and searching for an item ID that is a common sale, but still nothing ...I am using FIrefox 3.6.19 on Mac os x. I'll try with another browser and see if it makes any difference though

thanks

Robin

by the way I have no problem using 'download history', it's specifically History > Reports > Transaction Finder that doesn't work.

All I'm trying to do is to find out how many of each specific item I have sold over the last year, maybe there is another way to do this?

sorry for the multiple replies. But also, when I download history as a CSV file, and 'Customise Download Fields' to include 'Item ID', and 'Item Title', the Item ID field is blank throughout the whole CSV file, and the 'Item Title' just says 'Shopping Cart.

If I go into the 'Details' of one of the transactions, in the 'Shopping Cart Contents' I see the name and Item Id of the item, although here it says 'Item Number'. That's the information I need to search on.

After experimenting a little, it seems that Transaction Finder actually does not search the Item Number, although it claims to. Could you confirm this, and tell me whether there is a way to do what I need to do?

EDITED ** Just in case anyone else is having the same problem, the solution is to check " Include Shopping Cart details" when you do 'Download History', then it will include the Item ID in the csv file.

However, Transaction Finder definitely seems to be faulty or at least promising something it can't deliver !

I'm having the same problem with Transaction Finer.  I get a "no data available" message when I try to search by item number, item name, etc...  are there any updates on this?  Thank you!

no, I never got it to work. And Paypal didn't reply to any of the emails I sent to them.

It is now December 2015, 5 years after the original post in this thread.  Transaction Finder still doesn't work if you are trying to filter by keyword (i.e., Name/Email column of transaction).

Astonishing!
