Just thought that you should know that Paypal will ALWAYS find in the favour of the buyer if a package does not arrive. This also applies to a tracked services. Don't waste time and effort putting in your listing 'that you can not take responsibility once an item enters the postal system' as if the buyer makes YOU WILL LOSE. You could send 5000 packages, have an perfect record, and the 5001 goes missing. YOU LOSE OUT PAYPAL WILL ALWAYS FIND IN FAVOUR OF THE BUYER. So going thru the review process is a complete waste of time. Don't bother uploading your proof of postage. The customer service agent at Paypal (who was appalling) said after 30 seconds of a conversation "I am closing the dispute in favour of the buyer" WHY, because I could not provide tracking information. So I said if I had used a tracked service then I would have been covered. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo they still would have found in favour of the buyer....... Laugh I nearly cried. God help us if some of the more not so genuine realise this. Claims galore will be going in............... Paypal not so much a pal to the seller. Buyer is King (or Queen) Never posted before but the has made me mad!!!!:

I am also fuming, as a seller whos buyer would not pay for recorded delivery and has now won a full refund including postage even though proof of postage was provided to paypal. What are we supposed to do if a buyer will not pay the postage for tracked delivery. Everyone knows that paypal will refund the buyer so they are on to a winner all ways round. Cheap postage and then claim it didnt arrive and get a full refund. ITS A JOKE PAYPAL GET IT SORTED OUT

Totally agree. Emailed a customer today in France and suggested it would be safer to send parcel by International Signed For with tracking. He said "What for? If it goes missing you will have to either send me a replacement or issue a refund so why should I pay any extra postage"? So, well done paypal we now have a culture of the seller has to pay for it and buyers do NOT expect to have to contribute towards paying for tracking. Although, it sounds like it wouldn't be of any use anyway!

Hey there,
I can understand your frustration with needing tracking information as it does cost more.
But in order to be covered for seller protection you do need a valid tracking number.
Muppetstar, if your buyer doesn't want to pay for tracking, it is up to you whether you want to keep yourself, as a seller, protected under seller protection should a claim be opened. You would need to add the extra to the postage yourself.
Justijoanne1965, if you have paid for tracking and the postal service has not provided this you need to contact them directly as they have not provided the service you have paid them for. Maybe they can confirm delivery to you in a letter if the website can’t track the item.
Foggymidlands, for the case to be closed in the buyers favour even though you had a tracking number there would be more to it than just a normal ‘non-receipt’ case. What was the item? For example if it was a virtual item, a service or a car, yes the case would be closed as these are items we don't cover through PayPal.

Hi - I am having similar problems to those listed above. I sent a vinyl LP via Recorded Signed-For mail. The buyer said he never received the LP. I have electronic proof of postage - his signature - and a tracking number, but he still disputes it and has even said that Paypal will refund him anyway!
Is this true?
Does Seller Protection not cover us even if we have proof of postage, with a tracking number and copy of a signature?

Top rate mate and i agree what the heck are we selling for and giving our money to people that don't give a bugged about us the poor seller, by the time they take there listing fee's, final fee etc we are left with half of what we sell for, that's why these company's grow rich and we don't.
What we need is more competition site starting up if I was 30 years younger I would go for it as it a license to print money.

Hey there,
Billy234, welcome to the community,
Once your tracking show delivery to the buyers address in the transaction details then the delivery cannot be disputed and the case would be closed in your favour.
Come back and let us know how you get on.
