Resolution Centre refund

I have a case that a Multi ladder that was purchased on eBay arrived damaged

the resolution centre says I must return the ladder to the seller in China to get my refund

it would cost me more than the £79.99 I paid for the ladder to send to the China address

the item was posted from Stafford not China and it would cost a lot to post there

Resolution centre does not have anywhere or way to challenge this

Why should I have to pay shipping for something that has arrived damaged that would total more than what the item costs to get a refund

haw is this buyer protection

the seller is just a con merchant who is playing a game so as not to refund.

a ladder is a safety device I am not going to use a damaged ladder.

what can I do

Hi @Badeagle,Thank you for reaching out to PayPal Community Forum. I understand where you're coming from. In regards to your question why do you need to shoulder the return shipping cost if this was not your fault to have defective item. This is similar when you bought an item from a physical store,if you need to return the item you'll take time, effort and even spend money for your gas. Then, either they replace it or give you a refund. PayPal cannot require the seller to pay for the return shipping that's why we offer free return shipping for a maximum of $30. We'll check if you are eligible. You can visit paypal.com/return I also attached the link for more information. https://www.paypal.com/uk/smarthelp/article/can-i-get-free-shipping-to-return-a-paypal-purchase-faq3... Once you have the copy of your return tracking information please add that to your case from Resolution Center. Please keep your receipt. You'll need that if you're going to file for reimbursement. Please make sure you have the correct return address of the seller. ***If this post or any other was helpful, you may enrich the community by giving kudos or accepting it as a solution.***Stay safe and take care.
