Okbuynowshop dodgy seller

I have a case open with paypal, as okbuynowshop sent me a cheap plastic watch, instead of the smart watch that I bought. They have now been forced to offer me a refund, but only if I return it to an address in China. (Cant show the address as it's in Chinese.) To send the watch back to china tracked will cost around £10. Why should I have to pay £10 postage to get my $31 back. The okbuynowshop are taking peoples money, and sending cheap products, that are not what was advertised.

I have now gone through the PayPal messaging service, and received the following. Welcome to PayPal messaging! I am Charisma and I will be helping you today. I can sense the importance of this matter to you to be refunded for an item not as described. I will be transferring this message to Dispute so a specialist can better assist you. They will review our previous conversation and get back to you. /

I too bought one of those "interactive bears" only to be sent some cheap dollar store garbage that plays a recorded version of Baby Shark with people talking in the background. Contacted original seller and they tried to offer me $3 and said I was confused about their description. I've been going back and forth with the seller via PayPal and they only offer me $4, $7, and $10 as a refund. I told them I wanted a full refund with a return label, which they tried to argue they covered the shipping cost, which they didn't as I have evidence I paid the shipping on my invoice. The website is now gone and the email address of the seller no longer works and PayPal wants me to cover the shipping cost and wait for the seller to mark the merchandise as received. It's ridiculous. I've already filed a complaint against this company through the econsumer website and I plan on filing a complaint with the BBB against PayPal for their lack of honoring  their Buyer Protection.

So I wanted to give an update as it has been 2 months since I wrote my original review and I see so many more people getting scammed by these people. So PayPal told me that I would need to send the bear back and that I would be reimbursed the shipping cost. As many others have been told, the address provided was written in Chinese and it was then translated into English, I'm not sure if anyone else inquired about getting it in English, and I had the post office clerk help me fill out the customs form. I was also told by a representative, via PP chat, that I would need to take photo evidence of the packing with the shipping label and my receipt as well. I took many photos at the post office and of my receipt to send as evidence of the shipping cost which was $27. I uploaded the information to PayPal that day and did receive my reimbursement for the shipping costs a few days later. The return is still showing as in transit and I'm hoping they'll reimburse me the cost of the bear soon. It traveled from Indiana to Chicago and then to Tokyo where the shipping information has gone stag since July 26th. I do have a suggested resolution date of August 19th, so tomorrow, which it will probably be pushed back for the 4th time, but I will continue to watch it. I'm hoping this claim doesn't get dismissed like a lot of other people has had theirs dismissed as I have followed their timeline to submit information. I can only suggest that if you want to dispute a claim with this company, take a lot of photos. Take screenshots of what they advertised, if it's still online, as well as anything else. Dispute with the seller first as I did so there is a lot of evidence that you tried to contact the seller first to make this right or come to some kind of refund agreement that you're satisfied with then reach out to PP for a dispute. I'm not sure the more photo evidence you have and conversation evidence you have will work in your favor, but it doesn't hurt to have just in case you do need to file a complaint with the BBB against PP and you have all this evidence to back your complaint. I've warned a lot of people about everything that is being advertised on Facebook and tried to get them to not buy this stuff from this company which I'm sure has now changed it's name several times. I'll do another update when or if this whole matter gets resolved.

I have just posted a tweet on Twitter basically saying I have no faith in Paypal anymore.  I will wait to see if I get any replies regarding okbuynowshop.

And here we go again. I've now received this message from PayPal. In it they even say the following - ... Since buyers do not tend to follow through the case then the seller will keep winning and if that's the case, the seller is only building good status as they can win over the cases even if frequently being filed a case against on. Here is the full message... Thank you for patiently waiting Neil and regarding a case within PayPal and if you were asked to return the item. We will guarantee the refund once followed. The address sent to you by PayPal is a validated address, if the issue is it is in Chinese, we can translate it for you. If the issue is with the return shipping cost we understand that it is not your fault that the item needs to be sent back. Since PayPal is just a payment processor we cannot force the seller to provide a prepaid label since we are not covered under the trade law or consumer rights law; as those law are directly for the buyer and the seller. Since we are aware that it is not your fault we have a service here on PayPal of processing a refund maximum of 15.00 GBP. Since buyers do not tend to follow through the case then the seller will keep winning and if that's the case, the seller is only building good status as they can win over the cases even if frequently being filed a case against on. Also, with the time frame of 10 days, it is only for you to provide the tracking number, doesn't necessarily mean that it automatically shows as delivered because it is PayPal who is going to monitor the delivery status through the tracking number you have provided and once showing as delivered to the address we have provided, that's the time PayPal will process the refund to you. Since your case with us is already declined as item nor returned. Regarding the seller's activity, we will look into this so we can avoid this from happening to other buyers. Do not worry as this is not the end of the line, you may still file a dispute outside PayPal using the following options I have outlined below. 1. Please contact your financial company and file a "Payment Reversal Dispute" with them so PayPal and them will work together to open a new dispute. 2. You can also contact Action Fraud using this phone number: <removed>or go to this email address: www.actionfraud.police.uk Feel free to reply whenever you're ready and we'll reply as soon as we can.

Just to say if you have no luck with PayPal, try going through the bank you use. I have claimed back twice when I was caught out as they give the same cover on fraud through selling sites like the item purchased not being what you ordered or item not arriving. I managed twice through Natwest in the UK (not sure in other countries) Just keep all correspondence for them to see proof of requested. Worth a shot.

Realy useful info there, particularly about following the claim through. I run a fair size eBay business and we're dealing with claims all the time, albeit from the other side of things (we're the good guys!), but I didn't think about the lack of claims being followed through going in this seller's favour and having a positive impact on them.

Clearly that needs to stopped.

I was originally quoted £35 to return the 0.5kg 25/15/15 cms package, but having it collected tomorrow by Hermes and sent via a company called Landmark Global for less than a third of this price and under the £15 that Paypal were offering to pay for the return. It was arranged via Parcel2go.

Honest helpful advice - no connection or kick-back I can assure you.

My concern was that as the address supplied by Paypal appears undeliverable, Paypal will make me claim off the shipper when the tracking (inevitably) shows as not delivered. If this does happen it does prove it's not only OKBUYNOWSHOP that is the scammer! I posed this very question directly to Paypal and was just told to send it to the address supplied with no comment of what happens in that scenario.

The address being supplied by the scammers is completely different.

I guess you have to feel sorry for Paypal. Resorting to charging businesses for cancelled orders is a desperate money grab and the impact of eBay going their own entirely sensible way of offering payment services which they were embargoed from before now - it's the end of Paypal monopoly as I see it both professionally and personally when I get scammed and they do nothing to help me or others, when they could just stop this scammers party.

RIP Paypal - Once so trusted, but seems like you've joined the gangs you should have protected us from.
