On May 27th, I decided to buy my first Fitbit watch. Never being on the site before, I grabbed my MacBook, typed in Fitbit in the search bar and FitbitGlobal.com first came up. Never did I question if it was the legit site or not because for one, why would a scam website first pop up and secondly, the site looked very legit. Perhaps that is very naive of me but the professionalism of the site put me at ease. When I found the watch I wanted, I tried paying for it with my husbands debit card, which for some reason declined in which the "company" happily emailed me about, so thats when I chose to make the purchase using my PayPal account. A couple days went by and I noticed that I never received an order confirmation or even a reply email to one I had sent regarding my order. It struck me as odd so I went and did a google search where I found Fitbit.com. I started messaging a customer support rep where I was informed that Fitbit Global is not an authorized seller and is 100% a scam. The second I read that, I immediately went to my PayPal account and opened a dispute. Prior to this, I only used my PayPal account to send money once and made 1 or 2 purchases with it. With that being said, I had NO clue what I was doing nor did I know that you are given ONE chance to file a dispute/claim with a purchase. Not knowing what to do, I opened the dispute as "never received" as it was the only logical option and wrote out a lengthy message within the claim saying how the website is fraudulent, I never received an order confirmation, the website is completely taken down now, and so on. It took almost TWO WEEKS to hear back from anyone and at that point I was beyond busy and didnt see the message. On June 6th I received my first reply from a rep, which consisted of his name, "how can I help you today", and telling me to monitor my emails for notifications from PayPal, that the seller has 15 days to reply and left it off saying I was free to reply whenever. On June 7th, we celebrated my sons 5th birthday so needless to say I was not glued to my emails all day (which I never received one any anyway). On June 8th, I received my only email regarding this case and it said they awarded the case in the sellers favor because they provided a "valid" tracking number and completely closed the case without giving me a fair chance to reply to it all. I looked up this "valid" tracking number and it is a complete SHAM! To remind you, I ordered the watch May 27th at 1am. The tracking information shows it delivered May 28th at 11:35am via UPS, and just to clarify, no, I did not receive the item. The invoice shows the payment receiver is NON-US : Unverified. The payment receivers email address is <removed>. This DOES NOT make sense! I have exhausted every attempt getting ahold of someone at PayPal to reopen this case but because of the state of the world, I cannot get ahold of anyone. I attempted to escalate it to a claim but was not allowed to do so. On June 10th, I took to twitter and was told the dispute is being escalated to a specialist. It has now been a week since then and I have not received any emails regarding this matter. I physically do not know what to do anymore without getting my bank involved and getting a whole new debit card, which I just went through back in February after my card info was hacked. Someone PLEASE help me. ANY advice or guidance would be SO appreciated!

I’m sorry my text was very long. Unfortunately i don’t want to edit it and **bleep** anything up. I’m new to this all and barely know how to navigate around this website. I tried to explain everything as quick as i could Though without missing any details as, in my case, the details are very important as i continue to get **bleep** by PayPal.

PayPal customer service I'm afraid is non existentent I have had similar problem they are as bad as the scam websites .The system for disputes is floored as it allows scam websites to scam PayPal with bogus shipping details that they believe so conveniently been able to close your dispute and then when your stuff does not come you have know way to claim very clever of PayPal this is not acceptable when these sites trade under the protection of the PayPal payment banner .I am in the process of trying to get all these cases together to take to an ombudsman and take PayPal to task would it be ok to use your case many thanks keep emailing customer service I am on about 20 now good luck .

Thank you so much for your reply! I’m so sorry to hear you have had terrible experiences as well. What exactly is an ombudsman? I’m just so unbelievably upset over this situation. All i wanted was a watch to help me keep track of my weight loss during my journey and i got scammed and PayPal backed through scammer. When i took it to Twitter, they thanked me for bringing the matter to private DM’s so the public saw no more of the shady practices they are doing to their customers. And besides twitter, i don’t even know how or where to go to even email customer service. I attempted the purposeless “robot” text thing and was told “you already opened a dispute for this purchase. Click here to review your dispute”. I read i could escalate it to a claim but no where does it give me that option. It’s not fair what they are doing!

Me too- this exact scam happened to me. PayPal wants proof from ups that the package wasn’t shipped to my address but UPS can’t give it to me for privacy reasons. Standoff and the scammer gets away with another 150 dollars! I found something on reddit about this - the scam has been around for a while!

Same thing happened to me. I ordered a desk and payed with Paypal thinking i was covered.

The seller instantly sent me a tracking number that showed the item having been shipped 3 weeks before I made the purchase and Paypal ruled in the sellers favor because the item was shipped.

I've been trying to fight through the Paypal chat support, but no one has been able to help... I have no idea what to do at this point.

I feel like if I can ever get someone on the phone or someone in chat that would put in an ounce of effort this thing would be turned around in my favor.

All phone support is closed due to Covid and chat is worthless.

THATS WHAT MY SHIPPING SAYS! My husband caught it actually and says “omg! It says it shipped a day before the label was even created” My best advice is to take it public on twitter! I did that and posted a screenshot of some proof i was scammed and that PayPal backed it and they immediately got ahold of me. I then had to wait 2 weeks and i messages again saying I was going to go to the police department regarding this and they sent me an email to send everything to. I hope this helps you! I hope it helps even me as well. It is not right now they run this company. I am so surprised they are even still in business!
