Account Limitation Verification Issue

Hello there,

 

My PayPal personal account was limited some time ago; I am not here to dispute the limitation, I have accepted the reasoning and the consequences of it. However, I had money remaining in my PayPal balance when the limitation hit my account. I was informed after 6 months (180 days) I would be able to remove this money from my balance then my PayPal account would be locked permanently, again, I am okay with this.

 

The issue is, when creating the account I had a bout of paranoia surrounding the fact that people I received money off would be able to discover personal information about myself outside of my name, email and phone number. Thus lead to my decision to create a faux-named account with an equally faux-named email. The people sending me money knew that this wasn't my legal name and respected that anonymity was a priority of myself. Those who weren't comfortable with transacting without knowing my real name were either told it, once I felt that they were in any way harmful, or I recommended that we instead don't proceed with the payment. I was in no way forceful.

 

Now, although this faux-name might have been okay with the people sending me money, it isn't okay with PayPal - I assume. I can't imagine they'll let me take money out of an account in the name of "X" to a bank account in the name of "Y". Therefore, I wanted to amend this and now provide actual documents proving who I am and have my legal name amended on the account.

 

I first contracted the resolution team via the email, however, all I have received is automated responses. I carried on replying, as their correspondence instructed to, to eventual hopefully receive a manual reply. However, after receiving the same automated response twice in a row, I doubt that I'll be receiving a tailored response anytime soon.

 

That leads me here. I was wondering what I could do about this issue? I'm more than happy to provide any sort of legal document showing my true identity, proof of address and anything else that is required. But, I do not know how to go about this.

 

Please recommend the best course of action and thank you so much for your response.

We can help you change the name on your PayPal account if it's misspelled or if you've legally changed your name. It is not possible to change the name on your account to another person's name.

To change the name on an account:

Go to SettingsIcon Settings.

Beside your name, click Update.

Choose the appropriate name change from the available options, 'Fix a minor typo', 'Update your name' or 'Change your legal name'.

 

To update your name/ Change your legal name:

Choose the type of name change and click Continue.

Follow the onscreen steps. 

Note: If you're not fixing a typo, you'll be asked to provide documentation to support your name change. We don’t accept files that are sent as email attachments. If you email attachments, we'll still require you to upload your documents.

 

To upload your documents:

Click Upload Files or Choose a file to upload and browse for the file(s) you want to upload (or drag to the upload panel).

Click Attach File, if prompted, and allow the files time to upload.

Click Send Files or Submit.

 

We may ask you to provide documentation to support your name change request, which you can upload through your account. Once we've received your documents, we'll review your request and usually respond back to you within 3 to 5 business days.If you are making a legal or major name change, you'll be required to upload some documentation as proof of name change. This review usually takes up to 5 business days.

Although I appreciate the response, it is in no way tailored to resolve the situation I am in. I am aware how to change the name on a PayPal account, that isn't the issue. The issue is detailed in the original post.

 

How would I go about resolving this issue? Not the issue of changing a name on a paypal account - I already know how to do this.

If you've completed the steps to remove your limitation in the Resolution Center and your account is still limited, it means that we're still reviewing your information. Any ideas when the phone line will be open again? I have £500 sitting in my account that I can't remove and I can't find anything out why because I can't call in and I've received no information back on my documents as of yet.
