hi. I have had one experiment with the card reader, at a craft sale yesterday. So far I have had a few issues with the reader, which I will investigate further via these pages. My first queston is: does anyone have any experience with the card reader battery life? I charged the thing fully, but it went totally flat and turned off after three hours. I feel this is quite poor. After all, I suppose a number of people will want to use this thing the way I have, at a craft fair where access to power was very limited. I need the card reader to be alive a heck of a lot longer thatn 3 hours. I could conceivably re-charge overnight, but 3 hours is just not enough. Any other experiences would be very valuable, thanks
I do find it frustrating. The 'rules' about where to post are not accurate. This post has nothing to do with selling on eBay, selling from my website, or reversals. OK, there has to be structure, but if there is to be structure it needs to encompass all the possibilities

Paypal, came up trumps albeit I did have to remind them a couple of times. I returned the card reder and 4-6 weeks later received a full refund. I won't make the mistake again of geting another card reader when the mobile phone app works and is reliable, unlike the more professional looking card reader, can't win 'em all.
I just wish Paypal would own up and admit the card reader is not fit for purpose. Scrap the design and come up with a product that does the job. It could be so good and help us craft/vintage people to build our businesses.

well, good luck with that. To be fair to PayPal, they are very quick to replace the thing. The big trouble is that they replace it with the same dud. I do wish they would re-think this thing and show some interest in the feelings of real customers.

I can only add to the comments people have made by showing my disgust at the product.
It's flakey at charging (even when I have strong signal) and the battery life is a joke!
I've yet to actually make a sale on it in over 3 months. I always end up logging into PayPal manager and doing it that way instead.
Utter garbage.

Unfortunately your story is vary familiar to lots of others. I hope PayPal eventually replace this thing with something which works considerably better.

Hi tangoev,
In relation to a replacement device it is best to call the PayPal Here team on <removed> or <removed> or email directly at <removed>

I just spoke to Paypal Here team about my econd unit which is not holding its charge. The woman I spoke to checked if I was turning it off right (I am!) and is sending out my 3rd unit today and emailing some info on how to use the device (which I already know).
She confirmed that a new Paypal Here device will be out this summer and that it will have an LCD screen and be contactless. Hopefully the battery will be one that is fit for purpose in the new model.
I am happy to play along for now, knowing that the next unit I am sent will likely be just as rubbishas the other two but when the new unit comes out I will expect to be upgraded free of charge, especially considering I paid £100 for my device and have been casued so much inconvenience and had my reputation damaged by this device not working right!

Sorry for bringing this back up but I bought a card reader about 2 months ago and have so far only made two sucessful purchases threw it and one of those was a test on my own card! The rest have failed for the following reasons:
1: The battery went flat over night after charging.
2: The device suddenly stopped working on my wifes phone, had done before but now won't connect. Tried reinstalling the app, re pairing the blutooth and restarting the phone.
3: The app would not recognise I had location services turned on on my own phone.
4: The device went flat after 2 hours of being at the Market I was attending.
I've noticed my reader turns itself on randomly. I was sitting in my living room after fiddling with the reader trying to get it connected after charging, I turned it off by holding the power button for around 4 seconds, then half an hour later the blue light starts flashing. And it continued to do this for the rest of the night. A few minutes off, then starts flashing again for a minute. No wonder the battery isn't lasting, it never turns off! Even when I want it off.
I've emailed Paypal customer support. Will update when I get a reply.
