Hi, can someone give me a real example of costs in sending money to Thailand.  For exmple - if I were to send £100, how much of that would be costs -including currency exchange rates.

Hi SueK,

Technically speaking to send money using PayPal is free so I am assuming you are incorporating what the seller would be charged into the amount of money you send to them.

Based on that there are a number of things to consider.

For a seller there is a charge for receiving funds from a buyer outside their country, it is called a 'Cross Border Fee'. This is charged at 0.5%.

Thailand accounts are also charged a receiving fee of 3.9% plus a standard fee of 11.00 THB.

As you mentioned the currency conversion you can view PayPal's exchange rates at any time by following these steps:

  1. Log into your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk
  2. Click ‘Profile’ at the top of the page
  3. Click ‘Currency Balances’ link under the 'Financial Information' column
  4. Enter the requested information in the ‘Currency Exchange’ box and click ‘Calculate’
  5. The current PayPal exchange rate will appear in the box below.

I hope this information helps you
