Recent withdrawal queries

Hi everyone,

I'd like to apologise about the delay in giving an update on this. We have been investigating your queries and responses.

Nowadays, we aim to withdraw money to your bank within 2 hours of you initiating it from your PayPal account. This is much faster than before.

However, our system delays a small amount of withdrawals for security reasons. These will usually take 21 hours to complete, a very small amount can take 72 hours. These will show as being “under review” in your PayPal account.

You can find the small print in our UA in section 6.2.b.3.

P.S. While I hope this sheds some light on the situation, I understand your frustration and confusion. I’ll make sure to forward your feedback, too.

Please don't quote the Ua rules at us we're all cheesed off as it is and your making it worse with this answer.All we want is the answer to the question why are you holding our money, every withdrawal I've made since Sept has gone under security checks and most off the time it's for large amounts as I sell bears on Bearpile and Ebay it's outrageous your earning interest on "OUR" hard earned cash Well I've had enough I'm off to report it to the FA and Watchdog lets see what they think about it.

If it is only taking so many hours could you please explain why I applied to withdraw £16 on 13th September and it is now the 10th October and I still haven't received the money in my account.

I was always lead to believe that paypal was safe.  I now feel safer people sending my money through the post.

Please please deal with this ASAP as it is just short of a month I have been waiting

I have made five withdrawals over 24 hours ago and all off them are still pending. I thought they might hold 1 or 2 but id still have some money today, but they have ALL been held. Paypal have allready had this money for a week with payment holds. I have emailed watchdog coz this STINKS

Every one of my transactions, usually several each day, have been held, the timescales given are lies. A 4 hour review is now on 12 hours. I've had my account over a decade and am a business user with the same bank account for the entire time. This is poor!

Well, I thought I had seen it all, but yet again, paypal have outdone themselves.

Today I made a withdrawl, on the withdrawl page it clearly stated up to 2 hours - no mention of security checks or warnigns it may take 24 hours to withdraw. Now, in the past when I had this page (the 2 hour withdrawl note), the withdrawl was more or less instant, so , on seeing the 2 hour withdrawl page I felt relaxed BUT, I then have an email telling me that it would be held in securty for 24 hours. So now there no way of being able to gauge if your money will be held up until the email arrives. For business users this is a real problem as it prevents any real planning of cash flow.

BBC Radio 4 Money Box program reported on Paypal last week and will look into this problem if they get enough emails on this topic - if you have been affected by this withdrawl problem I would highly recomend sending them an email.

I am getting so frustrated, I thought it was only me until I read this.

I am making exactly the same withdrawals as before all this started, I had no problems then, now is a different story!

Every single time I make a withdrawal it is held for security checks, why do you need to check when your paying to the exact same bank as I have used before and before that?

I have been with paypal for years, I run my business through Ebay and rely on paypal to get the funds I need, this just is not happening it is affecting my business!

When is this ever likely to end?  You are in effect just keeping hold of MY money a little longer than you want to part with it!

I am going to complain to watchdog, my business can not run while ever your doing this!

No it really does not help read the conditions and i dont appear to tick any boxes, you get paid for people using your service and now i cannot post the item i have sold until Paypal review it?????

I'm pleased to say that PayPal seem to have stopped reviewing me.   I was reviewed on 3 Oct and 8 Oct, but not this morning (12 Oct) on my withdrawal of £45.  Also the number of new complaints on this board seems to be decreasing, so perhaps finally Paypal are reducing the security reviews.

Hi David,

I used PayPal to buy the latest version of Sibelius, which didn't work, so they sent the refund to my PayPal account. This money was then instantly transferred to the card I used to pay for Sibelius. However, I've had to get a new card, so the money is lost somewhere in the ether.

Can you help?

O.K i have made 9 withdrawals of £10 starting on the 8th of this month ALL pending. I am losing the will to live with these people. So i rang paypal and said so much to the small amount of transactions that go through this "security check".

HE SAID that there system is running very sensitive at the moment and in NO WAY WHAT SO EVER were they taking interest off this money as it is ILLEGAL to do so, AND they cannot earn interest because it is not in there account. So whos account is ALL this money resting in? Something seems very fishy.

how can the system be running sensitive?
