Well, I thought I had seen it all, but yet again, paypal have outdone themselves.   Today I made a withdrawl, on the withdrawl page it clearly stated up to 2 hours - no mention of security checks or warnigns it may take 24 hours to withdraw. Now, in the past when I had this page (the 2 hour withdrawl note), the withdrawl was more or less instant, so , on seeing the 2 hour withdrawl page I felt relaxed BUT, I then have an email telling me that it would be held in securty for 24 hours. So now there no way of being able to gauge if your money will be held up until the email arrives. For business users this is a real problem as it prevents any real planning of cash flow.   BBC Radio 4 Money Box program reported on Paypal last week and will look into this problem if they get enough emails on this topic - if you have been affected by this withdrawl problem I would highly recomend sending them an email.       ... I've also had similar problems. Last week, made 2 withdrawals of around £300 each. Amazingly both reached my bank account within 10 minutes, even before the email from paypal arrived to notify me of the withdrawl !   But something has changed over the weekend, Sunday evenings withdrawl took 24 hours pending before arriving and today's withdrawl looks like going the same way. So, Faster withdrawl actually means 24 - 26 hour withdrawl for most people.   I called paypal to discuss it with the business team, and was told it is for security reasons, and was given the example that if , for instance your account was hacked, somebody could clear out your balance ,more or less, instantly using the faster payment system, so the 24 hour pending is for our security as customers !! I asked the representative if this would happen with each and every withdrawl, and they would not confirm this, but said that the frequency of reviews are being stepped up considerably.   So, there you are - Faster Payments ? As of today, the faster withdrawls option has vanished from my paypal account. Its replaced by a withdrawl page which gives no indication of how long it will take to withdraw funds.     So, "Withdrawl issues now resolved"  erm, I don't think so ! ... View more

Hi   I use fast withdrawls, 5 days a week, have done since it was introduced. The faster withdrawl page is , as of today , not there anymore  Its replaced by a page that does not specify withdrawl times so could be 1 day , could be 1 week  - who knows !   I have to say, with the looming bank holiday I'm not prepared to chance my arm on an unknown withdrawl time frame.   So, to the paypal reps - yes tthe withdrawl pages have changed, and are not back to normal as of 19:49 theis evening. ... A = 5 B = 5   Although so far, nothing has taken more than 48 hours to arrive in the bank. Its still pretty poor considering even building societys can now make instant  transfers between accounts. ... View more

I'm a business user and usually withdraw using the CHAPS / Faster payment, 5 days a week, costing me around £100 in fees per month. Now, I've not been as badly affected as some users on forum,but have had a few delays, which seem to be random, and can't be planned for in terms of cash flow, which can cause me problems.   What I would like, and I'm sure, most of the previous posters on this topic would like, is a brief explanation of the problem and the plan and time scale to put it right - I don't think that's to much ask.     ...
