Hi everyone,

I'd like to apologise about the delay in giving an update on this. We have been investigating your queries and responses.

Nowadays, we aim to withdraw money to your bank within 2 hours of you initiating it from your PayPal account. This is much faster than before.

However, our system delays a small amount of withdrawals for security reasons. These will usually take 21 hours to complete, a very small amount can take 72 hours. These will show as being “under review” in your PayPal account.

You can find the small print in our UA in section 6.2.b.3.

P.S. While I hope this sheds some light on the situation, I understand your frustration and confusion. I’ll make sure to forward your feedback, too.

Well...its now 10.23pm..I transferred £150 from my Paypal acc to my bank at 7.45am...still showing as "pending". Not one bank transfer has been down today from Paypal. I,like thousands of others..depend on this money being transferred to my bank immediately. Paypal are not taking this seriously....I am going to file for compensation,as,apart from anything else..my Ebay sales have plummeted today as word spreads amongst customers that Paypal is in meltdown. Most annoying of all,is that apart from Paypal switching off all customer service phones today..if you try and email them..all you get is an automated reply from the frikkin Paypal computer !! Any bank charges I get as a result of this money not reaching my bank account in time..I will instruct my solicitor to forward to Paypal for payment. Paypal are not in the slightest bit bothered about this. How can I have any faith in them going forward ?? I would recommend anyone involved to take legal action.

It is not just a few withdrawals or random, it is 100% of withdrawals that are held back for " review", this is just not right and needs to be sorted out soon as possible.Saying " the system" is a poor excuse, if it doesnt work, change the **bleep** system !!.

I am so sick of this now, every withdrawal goes under " review"

just so paypal can hang on to it for a bit longer !!!!...

Our normal banks do noy hold transfers on review so why are Paypal, over the last 4 weeks I have been reviewed 17  times despite all the years of having a paypal account and never had any trouble before apart from the un acceptable time taken for money to be transfered, they now introduce a system that should of been implimented years ago and immediately put barriers in the way, to stop us accessing our own money even though they have taken their cut, totally unacceptable. My mortgage is to be paid tomorrow, went to transfer and Account under review comes up so money might arrive tomorrow when the standing order was due at Midnight, have to make alternative measures despite more than enough should of been transfered today.

It's not random, it's all of payments, not just a few, 20 of 20 of mine, from 1p trial transactions to hundreds, all held, not one has got through. This is for a person with 11 years of Paypal and a business user. Not happy.

Well I've had the same problems as all of you who have posted on here. The line about "Security Checks" should be withdrawn and replaced with,

"We are holding onto your money because we used to make interest in the past by doing so, now that the EU have told us to pay you faster we came up with this phoney scheme and wording to hide this fact"   Regards, PayPal the fastest way to pay and be paid on the internet.

This is such a load of rubbish we are being told,I complained to pay pal and was told that it was only a FEW people that were getting the pending message and that it is random checks,also that I would be pleased to know that once it settled down i would get my money in 2 hours Yes!!! pay pal pigs might fly

ok so I have two bank accounts linked onto my pay pal, one being new and i would expect a verfication and the other has been with the account from the start, both accounts came up with the reviewing, one was 21 hours the other was 24, come on this is a joke, how can we have paid 5 pounds and got it sometimes (if done prior to 8 am ) within a hour. I now have to wait till whenever its decided to be released. I wonder if the fact the pay pal master card that was offered to me just before this malarky happened had something to do with this?  I dont use pay pal to have to wait for my money, in fact I had to on all occasions pay the 5 pounds to have to pay my bills faster.  And I cannot use the excuse of sorry pay pal is verfiying my funds before its placed into my account.  Im sure the people I owe money to will care, NOT........ So I have to wait for anything up to 26 hours for my money - seriously its a joke.  I have completely cut back my use of pay pal and created the second  bank account only to accept payments that would have been through pay pal rather than use pay pal.  Really sick of this - ease of use ..........nope....................recomendation to friends .............................never

Right I still havent got MY money so where is it?it left my paypal account 2 seconds after I requested it be put to my Bank Account its not in my bank account its not in my paypal account,you are a load of robbers you know.Be honest on this pending rubbish,must be lovely to hide behind security check excuse while getting interest on peoples hard earned money

That is codswhallop,  " a very small amount can take 72 hours "

that is just a cop out considering the amount of people here complaining who are in good standing with their accounts,

i can understand it if its someone new who has just sold £700000 worth of ipads or something,

but the majority of people are legitmate long standing members of paypal and ebay.

i have had my gas money of £20 that my fiance paid me as i ran out of gas held up and have had to endure hardship whilst paypal screen my transaction, which was £20 deposited directly into my paypal , then paypal remove their portion and then hold the rest,  if it was good enough for paypal to take their fees out of a direct deposit without the need to review the INCOMING £20 that was reduced to £19  then it sure as **bleep** is good enough for them to deposit into my bank account so i can get my gas back on!

Paypal are just out there trying to make money, which they do very very well, especially from people on paypal, they dont need to be holding onto legitimate peoples money, just to make an extra profit, they earn enough!

Paypal pretty much holds a monopoly over online transactions, especially with ebay, and are now trying every low down tactic to circumvente the rules stated by the FDA hiding behind their fine print of security checks for the very small amount of paypal users which seems to be the MAJORITY of users, hence the amount of complaints on these boards.
