Had what appears to be a genuine email from Paypal requesting i provide them with more info. It says i must do this by 20/04/2011 or under EU legislation my account will be limited.
Logged into paypal and it says on there that i must do it by some point in March. Just wondered if anyone else has received this?

Hi there all,
Apologies for the delay in replying but I thought it best to reply so others get to see the answer. Hopefully it may help them as well as yourselves.
Previously, any unregistered partnerships (those that have not registered with Companies House or equivalent) were advised to self declare as Sole Proprietors but this has changed.
In response to the question: What is your ownership type? You should select 'Any other type of business, charity, or government entity'. You can then you should select business type as Partnership.
Do not enter anything in the Company Number field as unregistered partners will not have a company number. (By leaving this blank the unregistered partners will then be forced to upload their company documentation on then next page. This is when you would upload your own partnership agreement documentation (this is usually a letter outlining the agreement you abide by as partners. It will differ from partnership to partnership)
Partners information (names and addresses...) should be entered in the Owners and directors.
I hope this helps you all.

Dear Wayne,
Your answer doesn't help. Like an earlier contributor, I am the Treasurer of a society, which is not registered as a charity. The current registration describes our organisation accurately as a non-profit organisation. However, I continue to be asked for a business number. I have been advised to described my business type as Individual or Sole Proprietorship. I cannot find any explanation of these terms in Help, but neither sounds like it describes my position. Please can you provide information about what these terms mean and explain why I am required to choose inappropriate terms to describe the organisation?

Had the same and filled in the form as best I could. Scanned in some ID too and, whilst on the site page asking me for the info, I withdrew some funds to ensure the connection to PayPal was at least 'live'. Funds arrived ok so I went ahead with the info submission.
PayPal must come up with some re-asurance on this asap; there are possible ID fraud issues here.
PayPal where are you on this???
