Hi Bobskeyboardz,

Welcome!

Although you are able to add a card with a Visa or MasterCard logo to your account as a funding source a gift card may not function correctly with our system due to the security checks we have in place.

If you still would like to try to add the card to your PayPal account here's how:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click "Profile" near the top of the page.
  3. Click "Credit/Debit Cards" under "Financial Information." (Don’t see this step? Follow the instructions below.)
  4. Click "Add a Card."
  5. Select the "Card Type" and enter the required information.
  6. Click "Add Card."

When you log back in it may ask you to verify the account using a code it sends you in a card statement.  Anytime you use PayPal it will ask you how you want to pay and you can just click the prepaid card you got.  You can also make it your primary for now.  <.<  You're luck y it let you add your card.  It won't add mine for whatever reason.

I have the same  problem as you.  I recently traveled to a foreign country using a number of prepaid debit cards to hold money.  It turns out they cannot be used at ANY Atm to withdraw cash from.  The only other option I have is to transfer the money I have on these cards to my paypal account, and transfer 'that' amount of cash to my (local)  friend's bank/paypal account and withdraw it from there.  But apparently you can't add funds from a debit card to your paypal account, even if it's registered and confirmed.  Why is this?  Very unprofessional if you ask me.

I am having the same problem. What is their problem? Is Visa money no good here? This sure looks like another law suit.

yep i have 2 debit cards i cannot add to my paypal balance, imho for those of us who do not use bank accounts this would be a big plus.

i am a gamer and some realms just dont accept payments off of multiple cards... thus being able to add from multiple cards to our balance would be a great convenience.

OldMarine and wizlaws-  If you can add a prepaid debit card to PayPal (which in most cases doesn't work since the card can't pass our verification process), you would only be able to make purchases with those cards.  Part of our user agreement and our agreement with the credit cards themselves is that you can't use PayPal for cash advances from cards.  Which is essentially what you're doing if you could add funds from your card to your PayPal balance.

Hope that answers your concerns a bit.
