Error page: Bad request

I have been having trouble opening pages while i'm logge in to paypal.

I have no problem logging in, but occassionally when i want to open certain pages, for example, "Request Money", I get a blank webage with an error message that says

" Bad Request"

"Your browser sent a request that this service could not understand"

"Size of a request header field exceeds server limit"

I'm using Firefox 10.0.2, which the browser tells me my version is up to date. Sometimes when i switch the page to IE, the page can be open. But sometimes this doesn't work either.

I have a screen cap of the error page i get:

Paypal error 01.JPG

I have only been experiencing this problem the recent 2 weeks. Please let me know where does the problem lie and how to go about resolving it. Thanks.

Hello,

Did you read this thread recently? Do you see that there are many people getting this problem and that it still persists six months later?

Did anybody at Paypal take a closer look at this?

BTW, if the status of this thread is "Solved" as one of the lasts posts says, then it should be changed to "Unsolved" because this problem has not been solved.

This has been happening to me.  I clear my cookies and it gets fixed.  But 10 minutes later it does it again.  It should happen that fast.  It never happened like this before.  i even switched browsers to see if that helped.  Still does it.

I am constantly getting bad request errors! It is so frustrating. I buy things on ebay, I go to pay, and I can't pay for it. I sell things on eBay, I try to print a shipping label (first try to pay for the label) and I get a "bad rquest error". This is ridiculous. What is even more frustrtating is that when I called eBay to talk about this, they said "We have not heard of this". Well this is not true. I have seen it all over the web and have even made copies of various threads discussing it! I mean really! And, I have tried different browsers, as well as, clearing my cookies and my cache. They NEED to do something about this! When is enough going to be enough!?????

I get this multiple times per day too.  I have a business account and I do sometimes ten or more transactions per day on PayPal, and having to clear cookies multiple times per day just isn't an acceptable "solution".  No other site on the internet requires this, nor is there any technical reason for it to be required.  It's just a bug in PayPal, and it's been going on for probably six months now.

Please fix this.

Agreed. I've seen this when trying to develop a website and testing with paypal's sandbox. Clearing cookies on the client-side is the wrong solution. The 400 error message we keep seeing says it all. Paypal needs to fix their **bleep**.

I got the error when clicking to reply to this thread.

I came here because I had just got it when trying to access my buttons and make a new one.

I have had the issue for about a month and use Paypal at least weekly, almost daily. Can't think of anything I done to trigger it. I mean people are talking about this issue going back 6 months, I never had it back then.

I am having the same problem everyone else is describing. Bad Request page every day or two. Only been happening for me the last month or so. I'm on Chrome on XP, but as others have said it doesn't matter what browser/OS/ISP. Paypal is already the slowest site on the internet. Cleaning out our cache & cookies because of your bug is not a solution. PLEASE FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY

" slowest site on the web"  for last 10 years.....IMO. I wonder how many sales slow paypal servers have lost.

If my bank can do speed, paypal can do it too.

" Unresponsive to customers when they are having a problem "   :  " Re: Error page: Bad request"

Nobody home at paypal , we are just p!ssing in the wind.

" resolution center sticks it to the vendors everytime"

Paypal got all that.....nobody home in the executive suites.

Eventually all this poor customer service will bite them in the **bleep**.

Here's a secret : add a Credit card gateway to your payment options and see how many of your customers prefer to us the Credit card gateway over paypal.  It's like ~80% prefer to use the Credit card gateway over paypal.

Why does this say "solved"?

The error is still present after all this time.

As per previous posts, having to delete cookies is a workaround, not a solution.

It is a nuisance to have to delete cookies everytime I want to log into PayPal. I even had to delete my cookies before I could log into this PayPal forum to post this message!!! Ridiculous.

This problem does not occur on any other site. It is an issue with PayPal cookies.

Can PayPal please fix it. Thank you.
