Sometimes I will have my bank as my back up payment method for my PayPal debit card, but sometimes, I will turn it off. I know that it takes a few days to process with your bank as your back up payment method. But if I do a transaction wtih my PayPal card that doesn't have enough funds, and at the time of the transaction, I have the back up payment method turned on, but before it actually processes, I have it turned off, what happens to that transaction? Will it get declined because I turned off the back up payment method before it finished fully processing? I really hope this questions makes sense! I go back and forth with this back up payment method, just for personal preferences every once in a while depending on what transactions I need cleared or based on my personal financial situation. Please help!

The payment would most likely be declined if you do not have enough in your PayPal Balance and no back up source set up/turned off.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

But the payment has already cleared and been approved with the paypal debit card. It just hasn't hit my bank yet.

So I'm wondering if it would just be applied to my PayPal balance and if I didn't have enough in there it would just make it negative?

I believe it is real time,it takes the fund out of your bank account as soon as the charge goes thru.
Stop turning it on and off,you are just asking for trouble.

if you are waiting in line and ready to check out and can access your ppal account and are able to turn on backup funding for a bank account that has already been used for backup funding in the past....then backup funding will occur instantly. there is no waiting period.
period.
however...there are often SEVERAL DAYS between pos time and the time it takes to clear MY personal checking account - fact.
however....i have always had funds in that backup funding checking account.....so what were to happen if there were no funds....DONT ATTEMPT TO FIND OUT - its called theft.
