Hi dwnkel666,
That doesn't sound typical. You may indeed have a virus on your computer. At what point is this occurring? Is it right when you log in? Is it when you access a particular part of PayPal? What is the exact wording of the pop-up?
I would suggest making sure your antivirus software is the latest version, and running a full scan of your computer.
Let us know what happens.

I too had the same thing happen to me, on the same day (night time though, but same exact date as OP).
What happened -- Went into Paypal account, signed in fine through https secure url and the download alert bar at the top of screen mentioned that Apple wanted to load a download, and if trusted to allow. I didn't do it, because I thought it was odd that while in Paypal secured site a download alert was there.
It was the horizontal download bar that runs at the top of the screen, when asked if you want something to download -- not a pop up box.
Using IE7, still have pink banner in Paypal mentioning that I should upgrade - but if it matters for this instance that is the browser in this case for me. Not sure what browser OP is using.

Just recently I keep getting a popup alert on both my computers when I sign in to PayPal. It asks me if I want to give Apple Quicktime permission to run. This is only on the main account screen when you first get signed and and are viewing the account overview.
I understand that Apple Quicktime if relatively safe, but WHY do I need to have such a plugin running for working with my PayPal finances. I personally don't feel comfortable with 3rd party plug-ins running on a banking website. Look how often Adobe Reader/Flash is updated (practically every few weeks) due to exploits and problems.

hi, this happened to me when using internet explorer v.9.
Just like you, I also feel uncomfortable with the plugin. So every time it appeared I immediately turn off the plugin (by clicking the cross mark). I did not add variety of plugins on my IE, because every day I use FF.
I think we should still be careful to not allow any plugin runs without our permission.

Why does the Paypal website want me to allow the plugin "Apple" from "Apple Inc."? Seems suspicious to me. Running IE8 in Windows 7 (64-bit).
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I've consolidated other posts about this issue into this thread.
Thank you for reporting this to us. I'm not sure why our website would be asking for permission to run a quicktime plugin. I would only expect something like that to happen if we were trying to load a video of some kind on that page. Based on your posts, it sounds like this is only happening with Internet Explorer. If you are seeing this with other browsers, please let us know.
It would also be very helpful if we could get a screenshot of the error to provide to our engineers. I tried to reproduce the issue using IE7 but nothing happened. If you upload a screenshot, please make sure that none of your personal information is showing in the image.
Like Olivia said, it's possible this may also be a browser issue or virus so if you have not already done so, I recommend running a virus scan just to be sure. 🙂

Hi Frank, here you go.
possible in other browsers (like Firefox) does not arise because in FF this plugin is already enabled by default.
data: OS - Browser - Antivirus (My OS+Antivirus are up to date).
screen 1: XP SP3 - IE7 - SEP
screen 2: W7 HP - IE9 - MSE
btw... are we moving to CA, Frank ?
