HELP, I have been conned by Paypal

I have no choice now but to report this matter to my local police station tomorrow.

I sold a video game on ebay which was a Xbox One digital download game, after the person bought it I thought that was the end of it. Then on the 17th of January they demanded to there card issuer that they did not receive there goods (I have evidence that they did get the goods) so, a dispute was opened. I contacted the buyer through eBay, to my shock the buyer claimed that they were hacked into on eBay and Paypal and they had no idea that is was going on. So, I sent copies of the chats to this "real buyer" to Paypal as I had strong evidence that I would get to win my case, but OH NO, I just signed in to find that a reverse settlement chargeback has taken place.

I am more than angry now that this has happened and I am pretty sure that the police will want to know what is going on.

I will also go to my local newspaper company, The Sun newspaper and see if this story is worth there interest as I presume this has happened to more people and has gone un-noticed.

Well done again Paypal "claps claps"

In the future, you either have to avoid Paypal and credit card payments,if  you still want to accept paypal, consider sending something physical, may be some paperworks related to the digital product with tracking, cost is $2.61 for a few ounces USPS first class.

It is not 100% proof, but better than nothing,

So, lets say the real buyers account, if they said what was true and that they had been hacked into, then why does not Paypal refund them and me? As this would surely not come under some other section? And try to find out who really bought the game?

Just been reading up on these kind of goods not covered by Paypal. I got the:

Status Details:

We have reviewed the case. Because you have not met Seller Protection performance requirements, the transaction will be reversed. The case is now closed.

Now, I see another person on the community page who sold 6 digital games had almost exactly the same experience, but Paypal refunded him ...........

Paypal are missing the point.

Hacked account?

Jesus, does that not consider me for a refund?

I wont stop here, it's going all over my Facebook pages, Twitter and everywhere else I can find to warn all the other people about Paypal.

download Paypal terms and agreement,it is quite informative.

To qualify for seller protection, you must show you have shippe the item and tracking shows it has been delivered(for unauthorised transaction, all you need to show is you have shipped).

IN YOU CASE,you item does not require shipping, you cannot prove you have shipped the item ,there is no tracking.

if the other guy has won the dispute and get seller protection on digital goods,Paypal will accept download information as tracking proof, for professional dealers of digital goods, you may want to look into it.

digital,virtual goods,real estate,customs order,service,auto are not covered.

Good news, Paypal refunded me as they stated, as it was indeed a hacked account, that is the only reason why we will refund you, phew!

Still, I will never be selling digital media ever again on eBay.

"Therefore this game is not in any way classed as: intangibles and services"

Great! Then just upload the tracking number for the item you shipped.
