I just gave Paypal written evidence from apple technicians that I was sold a faulty iphone which failed partly one month after purchase then had a full logic board failure after 3-4momnths. It was also sold as factory refurbished and Apple told me its not. In spite of the clear written eveidence Paypal just declined my refund, closed my case and left me with no channel for further dialogue. Searching online just now it seems others may be suggesting Paypal do this habitually which is very disappointing. All I can do now is to go to as many of these forums as possible and let folk know how paypal have chosen to operate here... At least I can go to my bank and use the chargeback process, but given most people use paypal to avoid this kind of thing its very disappointing. it seems to me like we might be all better off to just use our bank or credit cards direct and leave paypal out of things?

iPhones are extremely high risk of internet fraud by both buyers and sellers--buyers looking for a "too good to be true" deal and sellers looking for easy money. You buy such a phone at your own risk as you can't prove any specific "not significantly as described" condition. There was no indpendent observer available to inspect the phone upon arrival. PayPal is a payment facilitator service and does not get envolved in any usability or warranty issues. Any perception of warranty can only be with the seller.
Apparently the iPhone was "as described" as you used it for a period of time. It was a used phone .

PayPal does not evaluate warranties or consumer protection laws. It is your responsiblity as a seller to comply with the laws. Were you an authoirized seller of the refurbished product? If so, then you our your buyer should have access to the manufacturer warranty.

I have not clue what rights were violated as the only rights you have with PayPal are in the user agreement.
As a buyer, what Apple states about the product your purchased is not relevant to PayPal. PayPal does not provide an agreement of usability or warranty. PayPal is very specific about buyer protection and it DOES NOT INCLUDE WARRANTIES. Any warranty issue is clearly with the buyer. If had puurchased from Apple then you should get a warraty from Apple.
I' m not clear what dispute you actually filed with PayPal.
PayPal does have weak buyer support for "significantly not as described"; if you win that dispute, then you need to return the item at buyer expense.
You get no PayPal protection outside of what is specifically stated in the user agreement.

PayPal is terrible about refunds! I mistakenly disputed some charges... I had sent my daughter money for my granddaughters college stuff, it was 6 different transactions. It came up on my bank account just saying SAN Jose, ca. I didn't know what that was! My daughter was in Mexico and I couldn't contact her! I went to my bank, they disputed it for me! When my daughter came home and went over it with me I realized that I had disputed legitament charges! We went to my bank and told them that the charges were meant to go through! I called PayPal on numerous occasions getting different answers from everyone! Being told I need to talk to a different department, saying they will transfer me, instead hanging up on me! It has been 15 days and they still won't put the money back! They took it out of my daughter's PayPal which made her PayPal account overdrawn almost 1200.00! I am sick of PayPal and once this is resolved I will never use them for anything again, they are crooks!

Nan123 - Please don't blame a company for doing what you asked them to do, and then get angry that they could not instantly undo YOUR mistake.
Have a great day!

Paypal is based in San Jose,CA,usually the transaction will start with Paypal first ,then San Jose,Ca,somehow your bank or whoever chopped some of the words off?
But it is hard to believe you made 6 transactions to your daughter and cant recall what these transactions are for??
Paypal customer service is poor, they dont have enough staff to take care of every situation so robots are used.
You know the saying, you get what you pay for,IN THE FURTURE,try using intl wire transfer Once not six times with your bank,if you do this online yourself,it would cost you 45-55 dollars.
Or go to the post office and use their service to send fund to Mexico,I believe max is like $700.and the fee is very reasonable.
