Unauthorized Transaction Case - Wrong Descision

Recently, I reported an unauthorized transaction on my PayPal because some hijacker had purchased a $100 eGift. The hijacker changed the settings on my account so that it could go straight to my linked debit card to take money from my bank account because there was no money left in my PayPal account. Within minutes of receiving the e-mails for the purchase and settings change on my account, I reported the transaction, explaining the entire situation. They took about a week to do an "investigation" which eventually led to them incorrectly determining that my account "has not been accessed by an unauthorized third party" and that the transaction was authorized. How can the transaction be authorized if I am the owner of the account and immediately claim that the transaction wasn't authorized? I no longer feel safe using PayPal and have unlinked my bank account and debit card from PayPal account.

I couldn't find where to delete my other thread because I accidentally posted to the wrong location. What other details would you like?

What you provided to proof the trransaction was unauthorized.  Where did it happen?  When did it happen?  Was it form another computer?  How did  they get access to your account?  Why did PayPal disagree?

It happened on November 26th, 2015. It was on another computer. According to the email I received about my change of settings, on "Desktop Chrome Windows 8.1 NT 6.3." I don't even own a desktop with Windows 8.1. They must've have figured out my password, which I have no idea how.

The email they sent me when they closed the case just said "We've completed our review of your account and found that your account is secure and has not been accessed by an unauthorized third party. As a result, we've closed your unauthorized transaction claim."

I mean I wasn't sure what else I could provide. My account was logged on a completely new device, my settings were randomly changed, I unlinked my bank accounts and reported the transaction within minutes of the actual transaction (which I explained when reporting it). It doesn't make sense as to why I would report a transaction that occured on my account if I made it.

You might ask why they came to the authorized access decision.

Have you ever used a public computer to access your account?

Does anyone else in your household  have access to your PayPal account ?

You might also try contacting the credit/debit card bank about an unautorized transaction.

I've only logged onto PayPal on my personal computer at home. No one else has access to my PayPal account. I've talked to my bank. They said it has to be dealt with PayPal, and then they deactivated my debit card.

Guess I out of suggestions, unless some law enforecment could look into it or you could force the issue with PayPal again.
