ten dollars randomly missing from my account

Alright, so the other post I created had a misunderstanding on my part in it, however the issue is still just as disturbing.

Please help me out here.

My fiance in the US just sent 20 a week ago, on top of a 100 + 30 sent right before, but when I check my account instead of 150 USD it showsed140.43 USD last week. Since then I've made a purchase of 4.00 USD at bandcamp, no exchange done there so it was taken out of the US balance.

There is a series of three (?) currency exchage transactions which I never authorised.

On top of that, that currency exchange is now shown in my canadian balance, it shows zero dollars.

What is going on, why am I missing money? It doesn't seem to be a fee. And what's with these transactions. Are these hidden fees? If so they dont make any sense and I literally did nothing to the money sitting in my account since the first bit of the should-be 150 amount. I did not exchange them. I left USD sitting in my account, is there a fee for someone sending you gifts now, moreover 9-10% fee? 11 dollars out of 130 dollars is nearing that percentage.

I understand there's an ongoing issue but that doesn't explain why the money is only partially missing. As well, that post seems to be almost a week old and I have no idea if it's that same issue persisting here, it doesn't seem to be as the money my fiance sent is all from an instant bank transfer so it would all be missing if it was indeed a glitch, not half of it as though part of it was garnished by paypal... for reasons unknown.

I've rechecked the transactions and it seems the unauthorized currency exchange (which again, I did not authorize and I'm not sure it's something that's supposed to happen automatically as that makes no sense. if there's us money sitting in my account, there's us money sittin in my account - i dont think paypal gets to automatically convert it to cad for me? and only a small amount for it? and for that amount to disappear too... where did it disappear? It does not say it is a fee) it seems it happened before my fiance sent the twenty dollars, meaning is was randomly taken from my existing balance.

you can see there should be 150 in that account at that time, since then i've made a 4 dollar purchase, but there is still around ten dollars missing.

I've sent paypal an email but no response.

What is going on? I can't just let this go. It's not the money it's the fact that if I can't trust paypal to not garnish or glitch up on my money I cannot use it. I do not see any fees involved and I did not authorize those exchanges. Please help me out here??

download the Paypal terms and agreement, revised effective October 19,

there is currency conversion 2 1/2 % plus real time exchange rate.

There is also information on sending money person to person (not goods and services) using Paypal fund/bank fund and using credit /debit card.

It varies by country,if paypal fund/bank canada is probably 1/2%,if using cards,3.9 % and ??

also check your Paypal profile and see if you are set to receive foreign currency ect etc>?

always know the fee schedule

Paypal balance is always kept in local currency, say if you are Swiss in Switzerland, then your balance is in Swiss franc.

But Canadians I believe can hold both US $ and Canadian $,check your own profile  to see how you set it up.

You cant be that naive that PAYPAL is doing this free?

If your fiancee goes to a bank and wire you $20,$100,$30,the bank is going to charge wire transfer fee of $35-$45 every time and you may have to pay an incoming wire free say $5 for the privilege of receiving fund to your bank.

Sending money  in USA ,Paypal uses ACH and it is free, but sending money to a foreign country ,ACH would not work ,so Paypal has to pay a fee.

No such thing as 'unauthorized'.  By signing up for PayPal account, you authorize PayPal and your bank, card, etc, to charge any fees associated sending and receiving money, including any required conversions in order to complete the transactions.  They put in sentences like, "your bank or card issuer may charge fees" for such and such, even if PayPal don't, somebody will charge you a fee.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

It still doesn't explain what just happened in my account. The money was sitting in my account when a portion of it randomly disappeared, and yes I understand fees are not based on my authorization and I have no issue with FEES but this does not seem to be one, why is that not apparent?

I would think that the currency exchange is at least based on my own actions, especially when it's a random 10 dollars out of my balance? What if I need all the money to remain USD? I didn't transfer it to my account it, and if it is a fee it's about 9%, which is a far cry from the percentage the terms of service shows.

And the money is just suddenly gone, I've shown you the transactions, this isn't a fee, it's just currency that converted randomly, and the converted currency is not in my CAD balance!

My bank account is a student account, it does not charge me any fees, let alone paypal fees.
