Hello,
I sell an online product which gets delivered within 5 minutes. Paypal has a 180 day refund policy however, so many people purchase the product, use it for 3 or 4 months, and then open a case. It states on my shop's homepage that you cannot refund the product, and in the terms and agreements which the buyer agrees to it also states all payments are final and may not be disputed. I still have to go through every case and reply, and sometimes I even loose even though I am always in the right. So my question is; is there a way to change the chargeback policy on your product. For example, have 3 different options. 180 days for something that takes a long time to ship, 30 days for a standard product, and 7 days for an online product that gets delivered instantly. I am sick of having to deal with chargebacks all the time. If anyone has any advice please let me know.
Best Regards,
Koogle1000

You can have your own policies but it is YOUR responsibility to enforce those policies. So, get some legal help to find out what you can do legally to enforce your policies. This is different from PayPal policies and within the PayPal policies PayPal policies will always prevail. Buyers have 180 days to dispute a virtual item for non-delivery AND WIN as you would no online tracking to physical delivery.
After PayPal automatically refunds then you would have to go through your legal counsel to recover damages from buyer. So contact a lawyer to find out if one would take your case.
In reality, you won't win with PayPal so plan your profits accordingly to compensate for the expected loss. PayPal is not a good payment service for virtual items.
For more information check PayPal policies. Click on Legal at the bottom of the page and then User Agreement.

if you lose because you cant prove delivery, then one way which may help is to mail them a small package, cost is $2.66 domestic USPS first class with tracking,so now you have tracking number ,but not sure if it stays online for 6 months.
this would not help if it is a dispute of item not as described, but if they win, they will have to return the item with tracking which would also cost them $2.66.
best is not to accept Paypal, you are just waiting for someone to come along and get a freebie.
you can setup a special bank account just to receive bank transfer, and always empty that account once it reach a certain amount,if they dont have bank account, then ask for cash or money order.

Hi @Whac-A-Mole and @Koogle1000,
I'm sorry that there is any confusion regarding the proof of delivery for virtual items. I'd like to clear this up.
Please do not try to ship something else in a package in order to get tracking if the item itself is virtual. Doing so would be seen as providing false information, and that type of activity can result in an account limitation.
If a situation arises where proof of delivery is needed for a virtual item, you may submit other types of compelling evidence, such as emails from the buyer, logs that show the transfer, or any other types of evidence that you may have.
I hope this helps!
Olivia
