Why are my payments for non-eBay sales pending and how can I prevent this?

If you recently started to sell with PayPal and you don’t have any selling history with us, payments you receive (except eBay payments) are now being placed into your pending balance. As long as there are no problems with the transactions, you’ll have the money within 21 days.

Typically, you can access these payments within 7-14 days if you:

  • Send the item to the buyer’s postal address, as shown on the Transaction Details page
  • Mark the item as sent on the Transaction Details page and provide the dispatch details (for digital goods, mark the item as processed on the Transaction Details page).

Once you complete the below requirements, you won’t be considered a new seller any more, and you should receive future payments sooner.

  • Receive a predetermined number of payments
  • Wait a predetermined number of days from the date you received your first payment.

You can also view your remaining requirements and confirm your identity at any time by logging in to your account and visiting the Resolution Centre.

Yes you said you were not an ebay seller, which is why if you read the title of my post it says >>>

"why are my payments held for NON-EBAY SALES pending".

Also if your items are virtual / digital then you will probably have to wait the 21 days unfortunately.

Can't comment if it is reasonable or not, that has got nothing to do with me.

All i can do is give you the facts as they stand.

I am in the same boat as you. I am developing a website for a customer who placed a deposit on my PayPal account. On hold for no reasons given, and cant even get PayPal to reply to ANY of my inquiries. It would appear this is PayPals new policy, which is to make their customers look for alternative payment solutions.....maybe the CEO is actually trying to tank the company so its ripe for a takeover??

If you get ANY real explantion, I would love to read it because it makes no sense to me and it appears THOUSANDS of other PayPal customers. I have had a PayPal account for over a decade so it has nothing to do with being new.

This is really a problem for our class reunion. I've been asking for prepayment for the high school reunion dinner, and the hotel wants prepayment. I think I'm going to have to stop now and ask for checks to be mailed, as I won't have the money in time. This wasn't exposed as an obvious business restriction or I would not have even started this. Now I have to go back on all the information I've shared with my classmates and stop taking on more business.

NEXT STEP IS THAT I'M GOING TO SHARE THIS INFORMATION ALL OVER FACEBOOK, TWITTER, ETC. AND I ENCOURAGE ALL OF YOU TO DO SO.
