I thought PayPal's buyer protection would protect me from scammers, but it is the other way around. It also seems that individual sellers scammed by buyers are also left holding the bag. I thought PayPal's buyer protection would protect me from scammers, but it is obviously the other way around. A clearly fraudulent seller who has undoubtedly received tons of complaints was treated like an honest broker and I was left with cheap crap I would have had to pay exorbitant shipping costs to return. I thought PayPal's buyer protection would protect me from scammers, and also bought products from a site with apparent veracity that the seller is so confident in their ability to perpetrate their scam that it is still up and still placing fraudulent ads for it on Facebook. As such, a clearly fraudulent seller who has undoubtedly received tons of complaints was treated like an honest broker and I didn't discover otherwise until it was "too late" to cancel my items because they had "already shipped" even though I didn't get a tracking number until weeks later and the items (cheap junk) took five months to reach me. I received cheap crap that looked nothing like what I bought (supposedly from the UK) that I would have to pay to return to China for my "full" refund even though the return shipping costs all but eclipsed what I have paid for my items. I thought PayPal's buyer protection would protect me from scammers, but it is the other way around! I bought an item from a seller I thought was in the UK. There was nothing on the website to indicate they were based in China. I received cheap junk five months later and was told I had to return it--to China-- for my "full" refund even though this would cost almost as much as I had paid for the items. A clearly fraudulent seller who has undoubtedly received tons of complaints was treated like an honest broker and I was left with cheap crap that would have been prohibitively expensive to return. PayPal sided with the seller because they offered a "full" refund (less the costs of shipping, natch). The items took five months to reach me; there's no way they would get back to the seller (even if the shipping address in China was legit, which, having read several of these articles, I seriously doubt) before the end of the dispute period. A clearly fraudulent seller who has undoubtedly received tons of complaints was treated like an honest broker. PayPal had the audacity to claim I was offered a "full" refund despite the prohibitive costs of return shipping to someplace in China that may not even exist (the seller website looks like a UK site).
