The PayPal support also keep referring me to this page https://www.paypal.com/uk/cshelp/article/what-is-2-step-verification-and-how-do-i-turn-it-on-or-off-help167  but there are two problems with that. (1) the page says "Here's how to set up for 2-step verification for your mobile phone:" but I'm not interested in my mobile phone, it's when I'm using my desktop that I don't want to keep being sent texts to a phone that might not be near me. (2) Also that page talks about logging in with a browser and going to settings|security, clicking 'Update' next to 2 step verification and then clicking 'turn off'. But in my browser under settings|security, next to 2 step verification there is no 'Update', just 'Set up'. So presumably it isn't even set up in the first place (which is what I want so I don't get the annoying text) ... View more

Thank you, I had already seen that but it appears to only apply to using PayPal on a mobile phone. On the rare occasions I use PayPal on my phone then of course I'll have my phone with me and getting a text for 2FA isn't a problem. My question was how do I turn it off when I'm using my desktop computer, which is most of the time. Then it is a real nuisance having to run around the house to find where I left my phone, especially as the PayPal logon screen appears to promise to 'remember my device'. I have a static IP address, always use the same computer and browser and always have 'remember this device' checked but it doesn't seem to do so. Under trusted devices I can see my desktop machine listed nearly 20 times with 'remembered' against most of them, including the last one. I don't need 2FA when I always use the same machine in a private environment. PayPal live chat wasn't very helpful either as the menu/settings options they told me to alter were not showing on a desktop. Maybe they were only for a mobile phone as well. ... View more

Everytime I log into PayPal (from my desktop machine) I have the checkbox 'Let PayPal remember this device' checked, yet almost every time it still sends a 2 factor authorisation text to my phone. This is really annoying. I have a static IP address and use the same machine and the same  (Chrome) browser every time but I don't always have my phone with me. Why isn't it remembering my device as promised and how can I get it to do so?   I also get an email each time saying 'A new device logged in to your PayPal account ...' and that also promises 'If this was you: You're good to go! We'll remember this device so you can pay quicker with your PayPal account'    but it never does. ... View more

Thank you for the advice. I'll try customer services if a real person answers. Since your reply I have also asked PP for an address via the RC, although I'm not convinced a real person is even reading my responses otherwise they would have seen my earlier comments saying I couldn't return it. Unfortunately, with respect to the other suggestions 1. I don't have a paypal phone 2. Live chat isn't live it's a bot (when it is available at all) and does not understand my query 3. I've already sent a message via my account but had no reply 4. I don't use facebook/twitter and at my age I wouldn't really know how to! ... View more

How to contact a real person about resolution cent...

I bought a watch on ebay in May 2023 that broke shortly after, just outside ebay's deadline for a dispute. Seller offered a replacement but has not sent it. More importantly, they have not sent a returns label or given me an address to return the faulty watch and ebay no longer releases the address of sellers. I have asked the seller for a refund instead but they are no longer replying to messages.   A claim for a refund in PP resolution center is now going in circles with PP repeatedly asking me for the returns tracking data and me telling PP that I can't return the item as the seller won't tell me where to send it. The page PP sends me to to respond insists on a tracking number and courier, which of course I don't have.   How can I get PP to understand I that I believe the seller is not providing a returns address as they don't really intend to replace the watch and so I need my money refunded instead? Is there a way to talk to a real person?  (I'm still happy to return the watch if I know where to send it)  ... View more
