Re: Advice about selling a car, recieving payment ...

Ha! I got that same email from “Travis <removed>” too (you totally don’t need to protect a scammer’s privacy) and within seconds an almost identical one from “Fred <removed>”. Both overseas in the military, both buying cars from their sons. Cue the (tiny) violins. I just led them both on and gave them each other’s email address. Travis caught on early but Freddie stuck with me for about 36 hours until I got tired of playing and he finally asked “Why all this am not here for game are you trying to run away with my money?” and I replied “Why are you trying to run away with my BMW?”. He replied “What do you mean? Did you receive the payment confirmation emails from paypal?” and I told him “Contact the email you sent it to. He is in your line of work.“. I haven’t heard anything from him since, and the address and phone number I gave him are that of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, so he can go collect his BMW there. It’s fun to play with them. ... View more

Actually, you don’t have to activate it before you make the transaction. I shipped the package last Monday and I used the link you gave today, registered, and it allowed me to make a claim. You just have to register and activate within 30 days AFTER you ship to be eligible. Thank you for the link, I appreciate it! ... View more

Refund for postage from returning items?

I returned an item to a seller and it was received 4/2/19 and on 4/4/19 PayPal emailed me and told me I was getting a full refund. When I was instigating this claim I talked with someone at PayPal and they assured me I would be reimbursed up to $30 of the postage for returning the item. How do I turn in my receipt and get my shipping refunded now? Thanks! ... View more

I have had a PayPal Credit account for many years but haven’t used it in over 9-10 years. I remember I did have a substantial amount due on it and I was looking at my credit reports yesterday and none of them show anything from PayPal. I have scoured PayPal and cannot find it anywhere. Any thoughts? TIA ... View more

I agree, just ask the seller for a request for funds and pay. Very simple to do. It’s refreshing to see honesty, kudos! ... View more

Returning items for refund, do I have to send orig...

I ordered some dried fruit and Taffy from an online seller who runs a candy business in New York. The dried fruit came in generic plastic tubs with the seller’s label on the lid. One of the tubs was crushed during delivery and the Taffy had only one out of three flavors I ordered. Before receiving the order while I was checking on the order status over the phone they said they didn’t have the flavors I wanted so they substituted some other flavors. I wouldn’t have even placed an order except you can’t get this brand of Taffy anymore and they said this was the real deal. They had already shipped and didn’t remember which flavors they didn’t have and the conversation was gruff and snappy, I just said I’d wait until the order arrived. The order arrived without cherry and grape Taffy which was the whole reason for the order, the dried fruit just an impulse buy. I didn’t eat any of the candy or fruit, one container of the fruit was crushed and poured out over the candy in the box. In my emails and my I said I would keep the two containers of fruit that weren’t damaged and the one flavor of Taffy I did order and would ship the rest back if they sent a prepaid label, but they never replied to me. I waited two weeks and sent 3 emails before I filed a claim. They said want everything back (not a problem) but here are my questions: 1) Will I get reimbursed for the shipping cost back to them because they sent the wrong items and damaged items? B) Can I send the fruit in Ziplock bags instead of the plastic containers because, if I have to eat the shipping cost, it will be about half the cost since I can put it in a padded envelope instead of having to use the original huge box. Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this. ... View more
