Unclaimed Payments?

I often buy coupons on eBay pay through PayPal immediately knowing they will be mailed to me usually within 24 hours.  Recently I bought a coupon, paid through Paypal and 48 hours later it was listed as unclaimed.  The sale I wanted to apply the coupon to was ending so I cancelled the payment.  I thought the seller had abandoned the sale. 

I received an email from the seller saying that they were new to Ebay & Paypal and  thought that the payment took a few days to  clear.  I paid again.  24 hours later the payment is still listed as unclaimed.  So the seller & I are playing cat & mouse.  I have less to lose so I'll wait & see what happens but in the past my payments have always cleared immediately and shipment has always been timely.  Does the seller need to claim the payment or is there something wrong with my account that I need to address.

Welcome to the forum!

There are a few reasons why the payment might be going into the unclaimed payment status. 

The seller may not have a PayPal account set up (the email address is unregistered in our system), or they haven't confirmed their email address.  You may want to ask them to contact PayPal's Customer Service if they need assistance setting up the account.

Thanks for your quick reply.  The seller contacted me and has mailed the item.  The item is no longer unclaimed.  I did suggest to the seller to contact paypal so maybe the issue is settled.  I'll let you know.  Thanks for your help.

I am having the same problem, but as a seller. I checked my email, on both ebay and paypal. It is correct. I have nothing in my spam folder from either site. I have never had a problem recieving payment on paypal before, although it has been a few months since I last sold. HOW DO I ACCEPT PAYMENT

Did you ever figure this out? I have someone who is asking why I have not claimed their payment and I am lost on it!

Ebay and paypal seem to be clitching and there's no humans to speak to to get my money. Ebay shows an item as paid and paypal doesn't even no the transaction exist. It was a Paypal" buy it now" item I sold. Customer not happy as well as me. Where's my money.
