HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I think the solved check has been on this topic for several days now. However I do agree with all... I just signed up with Paypal and there is no way that I can do business with a 21 day hold on transaction money. Just no way!!! Anyone know of a better way????

I saw that solved check...grrrr
For everyone who is interested I am going to start a new thread to keep this discussion going in the hopes that some liason between the community and Paypal will join the conversation and give specific answers to the questions I directed toward the liason (Paypal_Wayne) in this thread.
I will title the thread Not Solved - 21 day hold on funds?
Thanks!

I've been posting along as we go on this policy. For those who are keeping up with the posts, you can go back and read to see all of the times I called Paypal and I posted all of the convoluted answers I was given. One of the answers was, "Well, all accounts are reviewed monthly." Like I said in my posts, I've always had 100% feedback and the best on my seller dashboard. I pulled all of my ebay listings when Paypal started this and I have not listed anything yet.
I took out all of the money I had in my Paypal account as soon as the "hold" was released last month. I got an email from them yesterday saying the hold policy had been taken off my account - well, I guess so since I took all of the money out!
I am going to list just a few - three or four items this weekend to check it out. When I receive the buyers' payments I'll see if they slap that hold back on - it will be interesting. I'll report back to let everyone know.

I know...I can't imagine how they could do that. We'll see what happens after I list these few items as a test!

I do not know what is wrong with the management at PayPal... I think they are woring in a vacume. One would expect that, with so many unhappy sellers, they would revamp the hold policy..

when i first posted on here i really had no idea just how many of us this was being done to. just to let you all know i filed a complaint with the BBB stating that i did not fall into any of the so-called categories deserving a hold and also to explain who gains iterest on the money being held.. gotta love paypal for their robotic response of listing a copy of the policy as their response, my rebuttal was "you still didnt say who is gaining interest on the money..." and of course their comeback to that was yet again their copy of the policy rule. Never once stating who is gaining interest or where the money is being held. this avoidance on the subject proves that they are hiding something. this is absolutely 100% illegal what they are doing and it's honestly time for a class action suit!!!! think of how great it will be when a judge orders these scammers to pay all of us back for the money they illegally held from us.. i am talking with two attorneys now that are considering handling the case. who's with me on this???

Hi
If PayPal says they are not collectiong interest, they are either lying or stupid. Hmmm maybe both. The least they could do is TO collect interest and offer it to the people they are sc*%*^ng. The arrogance of the policy shows a callous and disrepectful attitude towards the people who gave them their money in the first place. To think that such a policy does not put you in the same place as BP, the House and Senate, and AG...fat cats disconnected from their constituency, or CUSTOMERS.
You should retract this policy before your CUSTOMERS do it for you by leaving to other sites and Craigslist.
Congratulations...shame on you.

While I have not had a hold put on my funds yet, If pp ever holds MY MONEY for 21 days, it will be the last time I ever deal with paypal. Also ebay puts up with paypal's bs of holding funds so ebay is BIG part of the problem. Besides, ebay prices are getting higher, so is postage, with the increases I can buy stuff local as cheap or cheaper than on ebay. Ebay/paypal used to be my first choice for shopping, now I shop local before even trying ebay. Who ever took over ebay/paypal a while back sure has **bleep**ed things up big time.
