lkboop1675,  let's keep political views out of this discussion.  This is a serious problem for ebay sellers who try to provide great customer service to buyersand we now find that ebay and paypal have no regard for us as good sellers.  This is a ridiculous policy and we need to stay focused on this subject to make an impact.   Thanks ... Syyl60,   This is terrible.  You should call the Better Business Bureau and I believe they also have an  online Better Business Bureau for companies who do business online only, i.e Paypal, eBay.  You can ask them about it.  I have read quite a few posts by people who have called  them.  They should check out each call, but it will give them a lot of motivation to really make a push on this issue with Paypal the more people call them about it.  I called them and wrote a letter describing in detail my experience of having the 21 day hold - I didn't fit into any of the categories Paypal listed as accounts the 21 day hold policy would apply to and I've had 100% and the highest DSR's during my 7 years with eBay.  Finally, Paypal has taken the 21 day hold off my account - but, as disorganized as Paypal is about dealing with their customers, they could just as easily put the hold back on my account.  I have no confidence in Paypal.   When I first came into this forum thread I clicked on the option to receive an email each time there is a new post in this thread because I want to stay with a group people who are angry about this mess so we can takes steps together to continue pushing this issue until Paypal makes a policy change.   What happened with your account is a mistake that anyone could easily make and it should not be an issue for Paypal to correct it and for your bank to correct whatever triggered them to get into it.  If they don't get this resolved quickly for you, it might be possible to cancel the Paypal account your son has now and open a new one for him.  It's just an idea, but it would work.  Paypal should be an easy way for parents to send money to their kids when they are in school or not in school for that matter.    Come back into this thread and  let us know what happens next with this problem.  You certainly have our support. ... No longer holding your money..But you never know... They may begin holding your money again..  One other thing.. They actually said that they reeive all the accounts monthly????  Really two million+ accounts are checked monthly???????????????????? I know...I can't imagine how they could do that.  We'll see what happens after I list these few items as a test!   ... View more

Racer,   I completely agree with you.  I've tried to be diplomatic with Paypal about how I have described this new "holding your funds policy", but I am out of patience with them and whomever within the ebay & paypal organization came up with this (1) completely greedy and (2) unethical and (3) STUPID policy.   How dumb do they think sellers are?  We all know from our own business experience that any monies held by any financial institution are used as short term float money on which they earn interest - interest on OUR money!  Personally, I think that Paypal should have been included in the financial reform measures our government is using with regard to the Wall St. mess.   When I first read the new policy the overall reason Paypal was instituting it was "to remain competitive with other financial institutions" - give me a break!  Once the new financial reform regulations were in place, Paypal saw they could do "legally" do this and they did.  These decisions aren't made overnight and I find the timing of this new policy quite curious.   I have not listed anything on ebay since I pulled my listings when the new policy went into effect and I have not listed anything since.  I haven't bought anything either.  I don't want to hurt sellers I bought from in the past so I will buy from them in the future if they will use alternate methods of payment - but not if Paypal is the only choice of payment.  There are other online stores that use Paypal as a choice in methods of payment.  For example, Hewlett-Packard offers Paypal in addition to the other payment choices.  Prior to this policy, I would have used Paypal; but I wouldn't even think of using it now when I order ink cartridges.  I'm sure Paypal does not hold funds from Hewlett-Packard, but I wouldn't use Paypal because they would be charging Hewlett-Packard the %fee and I am not going to contribute to lining the greedy pockets of Paypal.   I believe that every business should make a decent profit on the sale of their goods and services - a decent profit - but not a profit made by sticking a knife to their customers.  Paypal has always been a money-maker prior to this new policy and they would continue to without this new policy.   I will continue to complain about it because this is something that I feel so strongly about.   ... I was going to title the new thread - Not Solved Re: 21 day hold on funds??? - but, each time I clicked on the "start a new thread" and put in the title and my post and I clicked "submit" I would get a message saying too many entried over the x number of hours.  I can't remember how many the x number of hours was.  I tried several different times during the days and it would not go further than the above message.   I wanted to keep our discussion alive with a new thread referencing this one so people who have posted here can continue to post without a "Solved" check mark next to this thread.   I'll try it again later today and see if I can get it to post.  Thanks! ... I agree!  I wrote back at the first of the week that I was going to start a new thread referencing the title of this thread so we could continue this discussion and it would not have a check mark indicating that it was solved and hopefully get the attention of someone from Paypal who will actually answer our questions here!   Each time I tried to start the new thread it would not let me.  This whole thing is absolutely ridiculous and Paypal refuses to provide any reps. who actually have some decision-making authority when we email or contact them by phone.    I haven't listed anything on ebay since the new policy went into effect and I pulled all of my listings then.  After being an ebay seller since 2003 with 100% always- I just refuse to sell on ebay until the hold is off my account permanently.  Ebay and Paypal are essentially the same company since ebay owns Paypal so I am not giving either any of my business - selling or buying.     ... I saw that solved check...grrrr   For everyone who is interested I am going to start a new thread to keep this discussion going in the hopes that some liason between the community and Paypal will join the conversation and give specific answers to the questions I directed toward the liason (Paypal_Wayne) in this thread.   I will title the thread Not Solved - 21 day hold on funds?   Thanks!   ... Hi,   I used the "reply" to your post to another community member and gave a rather lenghty post - I tried to make it less, but I needed to get all  of the information in so I could get a direct answer.   I'm assuming you are a community liason between members and Paypal.  Could you read my post and answer the best you can how I can get the hold completely removed from my account and how I can possibly get an answer from an account specialist after my three attempts to get and answer and still no reply.   I would appreciate it very much. ...
