HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

Pebbles needs to read more than one entry.  I guess you have no time.  If you read several entries you would not make such a ridiculous statement.  PayPal/Ebay is wrong!  FLAT OUT WRONG!!!

I, too am not new to Paypal or ebay and have had the same situation. I have sold a pair of lounge chairs that have to be shipped from CT to CA and I have to incur the cost the cost of shipping them via Greyhound which takes forever, wait for the customer to pick them up and then leave feedback BEFORE they will release the funds to me.I was told by a "supervisor " that I need to have 20 100% positive transactions in one year in order for this not to occur!HATE PAYPAL and their outsourced staffing!

Yeah, this is a lot of bull. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. They are going to hold my funds just because I listed something in a new category on eBay? Makes no sense.

I have credit card bills to pay... I need my money NOW!

I will have to phone paypal to find out the reason. I have 1400 plus positive feedbacks but I did just one negative feedback from a crazy buyer even after offering a full refund.

I sold a golf club to someone that lives in Canada, at the buyers request- I sent it to a address that is in

New York. The UPS tracking number shows that it has been received !- Where is my money ?

PENDING ? PENDING FOR WHAT ?????

I had to modify current listings- to state- "ITEM WILL NOT BE SHIPPED TILL MONEY IS RELEASED FROM

PAYPAL-SHOULD PAYPAL BE USED !!"

Why are you people doing this ?

The policy is called the eBay Item Hold policy... it was announced in January, 2008 and implemented in April, 2008.

PayPal will release the payment after 21 days, or... they may release the payment after the buyer leaves positive feedback or 3 days after PayPal can confirm delivery of the item. PayPal will confirm delivery if you use USPS, UPS or FedEx to ship the item and use PayPal shipping labels, or if you upload tracking information to PayPal via the transaction details page.

Section 10.6 of PayPal's User Agreement and the following link have more information...

You do know that you cannot withhold shipping waiting for your money to be released right? But if you do beware that you will lose ALL SELLER protection for not shipping within 7 days and you will have INR disputes filed against you causing your selling career to be short lived.

READ READ READ the ebay & paypal policy agreements that YOU AGREED TO in the first place to sell on ebay.

As a seller you need to make sure you have shipping funds AVAILABLE to to ship items you sell in case you get a hold on your money.

Not to mention many potential buyers will never bid on your auctions.

But thats the way you want to do - go ahead.
