HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

....Does anyone know of a class action lawsuit against PayPal/Ebay for this policy? I would consider getting on board.

Also, where is the money? What does PayPal do with the millions of dollars it holds in limbo? Collect interest on it?

Why doesent anyone from PayPal address these issues and respond to the thousands and thousands of people that have complained in this forum? Or are they to busy counting the money they earn in interest off of your money that hold?

Hi NetSpace,

You can see we are at 140 pages and to answer your question, Yes, there is at least one class action that has been doing its due diligence since November.  They have been gathering names and stories and are ready to file.

If you use the search button at the top of all of the community pages and put in "Class Action" you will see many posts.

I am just going to copy and paste this from a prior post to give you the information.

"

"You know you can use the search function on this page and type in class action or any other topic to catch up.    I just posted the attorney info again but will post it here as well:

We did close down the letssuepaypal site to new posts but if you check status and then Bonehead's last comment you will find info but let me give you this link:  http://www.freedweiss.com/Attorney-Profiles/

This is the original law firm and I appreciate your loyalty to the firm that has been there from the beginning.  Julie MIller is the specific  attorney and here is her link:  http://www.freedweiss.com/Attorney-Profiles/Julie-D-Miller.shtml

Here is her direct number or there is a toll free number listed:  312-220-0000

It is important that you tell her where you received her name and number ( the "Letssuepaypal website and that "Brian" referred you ) so she will know the nature and background of your call.  This was old info from when this firm was checking us out for a case.

From the email that those of us who had registered  received, is this news which I just love:   "have also been told that the Law Firm should be posting TV commercials, and print ads around the country, in an effort to encourage others who have been victimized by PayPal to join in."

Additionally Victor is working on this as well with Julie.  I suggest you give them a call.

You should know that posters on here like to hear themselves pontificate and do not have facts straight at all--such as the Surplus Dude and someone named Paul who goes from one extreme to another.  The Dude especially thinks this is a waste of time and likes to point out how wonderful PayPal is.  Unfortunately for him he does not pay attention to the financial markets and new both in and out of the US.  Sure PayPal is international-how did Dude put it--oh right--"Paypal was able to expand the coverage from 3 xountries to the entire world because of this hold policy - all the sellers benefited tremendously from that"

OMG surplus I would love to see supporting documentation on that fact that exists in your head--but you know what you just continue to spout out these statements as fact and have never once provided your source of information.

FYI--India has prohibited PayPal from doing business in their country for failure to comply with their banking laws.  Germany, the UK and Australia are investigating PayPal's practices as well.  The European Union is making changes to the laws that would require a seller to have a brick and mortar store in order to sell on the internet.  Now if you think the "ENTIRE WORLD" means Asia-China/Japan then you are right. eBay/PayPal has just opened a brand new  business center in China--wonder why.

I still do not see why you bother at all posting here as you just spread negativity and erroneous information.

I think it's illegal for PayPal to hold someone else money like you because they do not have the legal authority to do that unless the Government change the law to allow that.

long story short, not new to ebay or paypal. been here 5 years. went through a divorce in september, my old ebay account was in my ex's name, so to avoid legalities, I opened all new accounts. I AM A DROP SHIPPER. HOW THE BLEEP is this gonna work with them holding the funds? They are encouraging negative feedback with this pokicy, knocking the seller down, then kicking them in the teeth while they are down. WAY TO GO PAYPAL. KEEP THIS UP AND YOU and EBAYS MULTI MILLION DOLLAR EMPIRE'S GONNA CRASH TO THE GROUND VERY QUICKLY!
