We need a page for political donations that allows us to collect information that is required by our state authority.  Additionally, we would like to personalize our donations page and also have the donors redirected back to our campaign website.  Do you have these options available?

Welcome to the boards!  We're glad you stopped in today!

The traditional PayPal Donation button offers features for your donators to donate safely and securely to your website.  Given that political contributions requirements can vary from region to region, PayPal does not provide direct support for each individual entity to meet these needs.

However, what I have seen recommended in the past is one of two things: either a form that the customer fills out, where the information is collected separately from PayPal first; or two, an integrated third party shopping cart that provides this ability.  You might consider checking out www.x.com, our website for developers, where you can network with other professionals who have already integrated a turnkey solution.

I am searching for information on how to add an EIN to my paypal business account.

Hey biglake, thanks for participating in our weekly chat!  Let's get you sorted out.

To add your EIN, you would need to apply for PayPal's Money Market Fund.  This gives you the option to enter the EIN as well as maybe earning a dividend on funds kept in your PayPal account 🙂

1. After you've logged in, you would click on 'Products & Services' at the top of your account.
2. Click 'View All PayPal Products'
3. Click 'PayPal Money Market Fund'
4. Choose 'Enroll Now' and follow the instructions.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the response.

I did find that solution in the forums somewhere and gave it a look.  The 1st page of the enrollment screen for the Money Market fund is actually asking for a SSN and not the EIN.  While the SSN and EIN have the same number of digits, I hesitate to enter the EIN in the SSN box.  I have a screenshot of this screen from minutes ago.

I wanted to add my EIN, as I am at approximately $20K for the year and with the new IRS reporting requirements for next year, I wanted to make sure my EIN was in effect for my account.

biglake- Yeah, I can understand your hesitation. The whole 'penalty of perjury' thing puts a damper on filling in info and pushing buttons 🙂

The instructions I posted are our documentation internally regarding how to add an EIN.  So even though the wording says 'SSN', we're accepting EINs through that method as well.  Our system does verify that info, so it'll cross the 'i's and dot the 't's.
