biglake,

Anytime!  If I can't get enough examples from Sandy's threads and your own example, I think I'll post a thread in the eBay section about it so we can have more info for the techs.

Hi Adrian and Olivia,

There have been several posts on the eBay PayPal discussion board which point to a likely glitch in the new eBay shopping cart procedure when the seller has more than one email address linked to his PayPal account.

The new shopping cart procedure appears to ignore which email address is entered in the payments section of the eBay listing, and sends all payments to the PayPal account's primary email address.

This results in bookkeeping issues when the seller wants to keep separate records based on which email address received the payment.

Here's a couple links to threads where the issue was discussed...

sandypurins,

Hey!  Good to see you around and I hope you've been well!

I've seen a bit of chatter on this lately, but haven't been able to dig up much on it beyond a few murmurs here and there.  Thanks for posting the link - I'll research with our technicians and see what we can find out in the future for this.  *starts rooting around in technician tickets*

*rustle rustle*

In all seriousness, though, thanks for bringing it up.  It helps us!

Adrian

Thanks Adrian... I'm doing well... hope all is good with you too.

The first thread I linked to should provide some solid information for the technicians to research. The OP of that thread appears to be knowledgeable and thorough.

Sandypurins,

I've been well, thank you!

The OP is definitely thorough -  looks like I have a research project this evening Smiley Wink

I can definitely see how this would be an issue, especially for book keeping.  Having more than one email address has always been one of my own recommendations for multiple functionality as a seller, and if it's not always performing as expected, well, not good. Record keeping can be hard enough without having to double check everything!  Here's to hoping we can isolate the root and get it all straightened out as soon as possible.  Smiley Happy

While I am here, I will make myself useful and weigh in on the paypal payment emails that an earlier poster mentioned.

Yes, this past year, I have been receiving "instant payment received emails" to my primary email address, when they should be going to my secondary email address.

All of my ebay listings, use a secondary email address "paypalATblahblahblahdotCOM".  For many years, all of my paypal 'instant payment received" emails would go to this email address..  I have all of my ebay sales, use that email address, so I can sort them via spreadsheet later on.

Recently, last couple months or so, payment notifications will arrive to my primary email address OR my 2ndary email address.  It appears to depend on how the buyer does their checkout while on ebay.

It is helpful when payments appear to the email address listed, and not just default to the primary email address.

Hope this makes sense.  I would be happy to followup later on if more info is needed.

Cheers!

biglake,

Thanks for the input!  I haven't finished sorting through the threads that Sandy posted earlier, but do you have anything more specific as to how the buyer checks out that affects it?  Knowledge = power!  lol

At this point I'm wondering if the payments are going to the right address, but both the History log and the payment notifications are pointing to the old address.  Later tonight I'll research some of the buyers in these scenarios to get a firm grasp on what the functionality here is.

When I first started programming computers, glitches (software coding errors) were called bugs. The "bugs" term was supposedly coined from when a computer failed because an actual bug (a moth) had short circuited the wiring.

I remember one "bug" which caused our CICS mainframe system to crash once or twice per week. Several programmers had tried to find the error and failed... the crash was named "Charlie 7" and persisted for a couple years.

I finally devoted some of my spare time to fully research the bug... a few months later, I found the coding error and it was fixed.

Those coding errors are sometimes difficult to find.

I sell mostly on ebay.  I also buy a lot too.

I think what is happening, is there are multiple checkout 'flows' that ebay is doing now.  I think they are transitioning off an older checkout flow.

It seems apparent that one of the checkout flows they are ramping up does not take into account, the actual paypal email address, that is listed in the ebay listing.  Ebay just puts the payment into the paypal account, which sets off a notification to the paypal primary email address.

I will also mention that this only affects where the Paypal payment email "instant payment received email' goes.  I consider this a cosmetic fix, as the 'important' stuff, like gettting paid and paying is working fine.

I would be happy to help.  You can email me at my 'primary' email address if you want.Smiley Wink

I was unable to get the older models of the brother that are supported by paypal...will this model work? It uses the same size printing labels as the older models... SO I assume that it does. Also is there a way to print lables that are 2.4 and 4 or 6 inches wide? If not then it is ok... I am sending out dvd's so I need it to be able to fit on a 6 by 8 inch bubble wrap envelop....

thanks in advance for your help...I like this feature of having someone to talk with ...very nice customer service...
