Paypal in Jordan??

Hello, 

I've had a long day today, and this is my last resort, I hope someone out there has some helpful information or an answer to my delimma . 

I currently live in Amman, Jordan. And recently i've become employed with a company based in Europe. 

They require that I have 1) Bank Account  2) Paypal Account

I've used paypal before back in the US. 

I have created a new paypal account, because I've forgotten my initial account info. 

I have also gone to a number of local banks, to open an account, but I asked a tricky question apparently, and I got a dumb founded look which translated to "What is Paypal?", and "Are you sure you're not from Mars?".....

So, my question was, if they authorized Paypal transactions (withdraw from paypal account and deposit into (Savings / Checking ) bank account). 

Many of them after explaining over and over what Paypal does still believed I came from Mars. And they've NEVER heard of this before! 

Does anyone out here know which banks In Jordan, know what I'm talking about?! And Should I even be asking that question? Any thoughts on HSBC bank? Does it do the E-Shake with Paypal and smile back??

I'm sorry to hear that you've had a frustrating day!

Are you living in Jordan permanently? Have you created an account in Jordan? Your PayPal account should be set up in your country of residence.

Jordan accounts use US bank accounts. You can see the specifics of what options are allowed on an account in your country by going to http://www.paypal.com and clicking Worldwide at the bottom of the page when you're not logged in. Then choose Jordan from the drop-down menu. You'll see the funding sources you can send from, the funding sources people can use to send to you, and your withdrawal options.

Hi Olivia,

I read some topics on another websites about paypal, that paypal allow to transfer money from Jordan to other countries but its disallow to transfer money to Jordan , how i can make sure about this information that its right or wrong ? i want to be confident that i will not loss my money because of that.

If you use the process Olivia described above, or go to www.paypal.com/worldwide, you can see the send, receive, and withdraw options for Jordan.

I wonder what does "Jordanian accounts use US bank accounts"?

and another thing I hope you clear out for me is "Withdraw from your PayPal account to a US. Bank account"...

Olivia means that Jordanian accounts cannot add a Jordanian bank, only US banks.  They can use US banks for withdrawing funds out of PayPal.
